why is it that every time someone tries to question the male white‑passing privilege of robby in the show or noah wyle in his real‑life comments, people immediately pull out his judaism to dismiss all criticism, and on top of that claim it’s ridiculous to see him as privileged ?
antisemitism is absolutely something he has to deal with, it should never be minimized and of course I fully condemn all the antisemitic attacks wyle has been subjected to, however that doesn’t make him beyond reproach when it comes to sexism, racism, or any other level of systemic discrimination -> being part of a minority doesn’t erase someone’s biases or the privileges they can hold compared to others. same for robby.
he is still a man, white-skinned, visibly straight, in a racist and sexist world. yes, he’s not "at the top of the pyramid" of the western christian sexist world BUT he still checks a lot of boxes that give him advantages compared to people like tracy ifeachor, sepideh moafi, supriya ganesh, isa briones, ... and their characters.
and that’s without even mentioning Wyle’s situation as an american actor in the Hollywood industry, where he’s prominent at the moment.
and acknowledging this, acknowledging that The Pitt and its producers can fall into patterns that perpetuate structural oppression doesn’t mean denying the positive aspects of the show, or being a hater..
It simply means recognizing that it’s still a show produced by men with a white‑passing, and that they aren’t exempt from reproducing oppressive dynamics. Intersectionality isn't just a theory.
