Regular and Recurring LGBTQIA+ Characters in series on TV & Streaming Video

These are characters who have first appeared or been revealed as LGBTQIA+ during the 2020/21 season, or whom I’ve recently learned about or whom I hadn’t mentioned in previous posts of this type (that is, on my old blog). Needless to say, this list is also highly arbitrary and incomplete.

Continuing the tradition from my old blog (which has been unceremoniously deleted by tumblr without much of an explanation why) I’m doing daily posts during June to celebrate LGBTQIA+ pride by showcasing openly LGBTQIA+ celebrities and various content about or created by LGBTQIA+ people such as music videos, characters on TV shows, movie trailers, ...

On September 22nd, 1990, twelve-year-old Derrick Jackson and his brother, James Edwards, aged fourteen, went to sleep, safe and snug in their beds. Tragically, before the sun could rise in Vernon, Texas, both boys would be dead.

An intruder broke into the Jackson family’s apartment during the early hours of September 23rd. First, this unknown assailant murdered the young brothers by shooting them in the head. The killer then set his sights on their mother, Linda. Linda fought against the intruder with all her might, and during the grapple, he shot her three times.  One bullet hit a shoulder and another in the buttocks. The third struck her head.

The oldest brother, Lyman Jackson, aged twenty-three, was also in the home at the time of the attack. He managed to escape through a window, unharmed, and called for help. Despite the severity of her injuries, doctors successfully saved Linda’s life.

Nearly three decades have passed since that horrible night, and the murder of Derrick Jackson and James Edwards remains unsolved. Witnesses describe the killer as a black male standing between 5’8 and 5’10 with a heavy-set build. Although investigators have released few details to the public, they stated the man may hold ties to the Austin, Texas area.
