Lady Bower, Derwent

Another long walk today! We went back to Derwent Edge, but this time went down to the reservoir. Although it's only been 3 months since that first walk, I was surprised to find it noticeably easier. I shouldn't have mentioned it to Himself... he decided to go the long way round and nearly broke me! I didn't take any knitting, but as you can see, I found my next project 😉 It was a beautiful day, but the wind was biting up on the top 🌬 What we call a lazy wind... goes through you instead of round you. All the beautiful heather is over, but instead there is the bracken to admire - I always think it looks amazing with the sun on it. The leaves may have fallen off the Hawthorn, but there are still lots of berries on them. I saw the fattest squirrel I've ever laid eyes on, but wasn't quick enough to get a photo. It wasn't that fast, I was just stood there gawping at it for so long 😳 It's obviously had a very good autumn indeed. The last photo was taken above Ladybower. By this point, I was knackered. Himself reckoned it was only half a mile to the car, but it turned out to be more like a mile and a half 🙄 To be fair, it's not a deliberate attempt to deceive, he just seems to work on Irish time and Irish miles 😂 After 30 years, you'd think I'd be wise to it, but he still manages to catch me out! #derwentdam #derwentedge #ladybower #hiking #myarsemuscleshurt #stoplaughing
I put down my knitting and went for a proper walk today 😎 Me and Himself packed up some butties and headed out to the Peak District. We parked up near Ladybower and headed up the hill overlooking Derwent dam (the 'Dambusters' dam). It's been a gorgeous day, bright and sunny, with a nice cool breeze 😊 The heather seems to have gone particularly mad this year - you can see great swathes of purple from miles away! #notknitting #peakdistrict #derwentdam #myfeetarethrobbingnow #heather
