Yakshi

Yakshi is the name of the desi vampire from my grandmother's stories. She is always an extremely beautiful lady, with doe eyes and long hair, the smell of pala and tinkering of anklets accompanying her arrival followed by the echoes of her bell like laughter.

Her story might change in shades but the essense remains the same. Scorned lover, pretty girl, innocent child, always betrayed and left to die by a man, she is said to come back with a thirst for revenge and for the blood of the humanity that caused her doom, waiting by in the dark to lead the men who is at the wrong place at the wrong time to their death.
