Having the opportunity to evaluate how you work is a privilege. Employees often are on back to back meetings, there is little time to question existing operating models within an organization and reflect on the interaction of technical squads and consumers. The Design sprint allows to refocus, shift initiatives and prioritize the problem which needs solving first.
The design sprint is not an answer to everything; however, it has many benefits which will help a squad deliver solutions, tailored to the consumer’s need.
A design sprint will reduce the level of risk you are taking when building a solution or deploying a new feature. The team could allocate their time to numerous initiatives, but why waste their time and company money in creating solutions no one needs?
Couple of months after you build a feature no one needs, that would become obvious as no one will be using it. Then you will have to invest even more time and money to fix it or build the feature which is actually needed.
Running a design spring gives the opportunity to identify what is the burning problem which needs to be solved. Inviting the experts in the room to discuss their biggest challenges allows choosing a target which worth going after. Inviting “the decider” to pick the main focus tides up the problem you are solving with the strategy of your company.
