unpopular opinion: i think having a well balanced life + multiple interests is much more important than perfect grades and taking a crazy course load (and this isn't to say education isn't important), and i wish more adults would understand this

I totally agree! I wish this idea was more popular in the study community as well. Anytime I see someone saying that it’s worth it to never see their friends if it means getting A’s I’m like !!!! no !!!!! go have fun and enjoy yourself. School is important, but not as important as you are.
send me your unpopular opinions!
to the anon who asked about a fitness log: you can set up a really basic bullet journal in any notebook! i do this and i find it rlly beneficial. use a code for leg day/arm day/cardio etc, or if you do a specific routine, come up with a colour code for that. and then write out the days of the week and code them with what you want to do. you can also keep track of when you actually did workout, how much you were lifting, cardio time, heart rate etc!
@anon!!
Day 2/100 💕 My pink geography notes, I like to rewrite my notes from school when I get home! This unit is called Superpowers and it makes me think of the colour pink and all things girly🌺
i forgot to put this in my last message oops but i also think it's really cool that you're studying neuroscience. i'm really interested in psychology but i haven't decided if i want to do it from the medical/science point of view or the liberal arts point of view yet. my uni of choice offers this dual degree thing in neuroscience + psych and it looks really cool. if you don't mind me asking, what are your fav and least fav parts about studying neurosci?
If I’m being quite honest, I’m just starting to study neuroscience so I don’t have a ton of experience and exposure yet! The topic is fascinating to me - I’ve had an interest in abnormal psychology, neuro diseases, etc. for a while so this was right up my alley. However, there’s a LOT of memorisation and you really have to put in the time in order to do well. (also from a research perspective, everything about research is very slow progress).
The reason I chose to study neuro over bio or psych is because at my school, bio and psych are huge majors (i.e. every premed ever) and I would have to take a bunch of unnecessary classes to get the degree, whereas neuro is a combination of bio and psych and I really don’t have to take a bunch of additional classes I have no interest in. Plus it’s a more selective program too :P
In terms of medical/science vs liberal arts, I genuinely think it depends on what you want to do with your life (hopefully you have a little bit of a general idea). I want to become a doctor and maybe do some work w neurodegenerative diseases. If you want to do research, you can do both science or liberal arts depending on what sort of research you want to do. For example, I do research on Alzheimer’s disease in mice which is much more sciencey, but some of my friends do research w behavioral psych. A liberal arts POV might be more helpful if you want to teach or do something entirely different, like if you were just getting the degree b/c you were interested in it, but wanted to go into HR or business or something like that.
Hopefully this was helpful - feel free to send me any more questions!
