I've decided to live richly, in spite of it all. You can live your life in the pity-est of parties, all alone, just swimming in your own bitterness about the past, your trauma, stay mad. Be miserable because of all you've been through. Or. You can decide that you're going to let that all go. Use your hard lessons to guide you forward. But create a beautiful spot of life. Be grateful and love life - regardless of what you've been through. The choice is yours. Only yours. There's no happy ever after fairy to magically make your dreams come true. Life gives zero effs if you think it's unfair, it'll just keep rolling on without you. The person you're mad at? They don't care. The grudge you carry weighs YOU down, not them. The events that hurt you? Being resentful doesn't change them. Let it go. Because hate isn't the opposite of love... They're both passionate, all-consuming emotions. Hating someone burns your own energy to fuel it. The better way is -- indifference. When those people, places, times of life, just no longer have an effect. This is poem by Rupi Kaur in her book the sun and her flowers, which if you have not already read then you really should, this poem is something I carry with me everywhere, it sits inside my heart and mind as a motto for life. Whenever I feel as though the world is collapsing in on me and my mind goes into a dark place where there feels there is no escape, these are the words that come to my mind and remind me to just be me and to live my god damn life despite my dark passenger!
