Regardless, it's pretty clear a group of hellers went into this convention determined to make Jensen tell them how he REALLY feels about D/C - and, hey, guess what? They succeeded! [sad trombone]

I think at some point Jensen got tired of being called a homophobe for not validating their fanfic and decided he'd try just being neutral about it and hoped they'd simmer down when it came to asking him when he wasn't saying anything they'd feel the need to push back against. Which, obviously, having been in a fandom with these extremist wackjobs for years, we all could have told him would never fucking work. Not only do they take six miles and run into the distance screaming about twue lurve and ass babies (FFS) if you give them an inch, they do that if they just creatively imagine you gave them an inch.

So of course going from 'Destiel isn't real' to 'interpret what you want' didn't convince them to leave him out of it, but to badger him harder. Obviously he had changed his mind about the ship being canon and they just have to force him to admit it (I don't have the time or energy to get into how it's always about forcing things, especially sexual things, on Jensen)! If they just get him on a panel with Misha who he obviously feels soooo much safer on stage with than stinky ogre Jared (lol) and ask enough times in enough ways, he'll get past the mysterious NDAs/ fear of Jared/ brainwashing/ etc. holding him back!

What they actually did, of course? Is just demonstrate to Jensen he might as well go back to being directly honest with them because it wasn't going to stop them being invasive fetishistic boundary-crossing weirdos either way. (I doubt Jensen knows it, but he could not possibly have driven the knife in deeper than he did by comparing their likewise fanfic ship to wincest.)

Of course the immediate reaction is screaming and crying about how dare stupid homophobic Jensen think he has any right to have an opinion on the character he played for fifteen seasons, they KNOW it was real! It also feels pretty inevitable that they'll start making (if they haven't already) excuses for how this ... totes doesn't count for reasons, actually! It was still Jared's fault, he was at the convention!!! They just didn't phrase the questions right, if they said it differently, Jensen would have agreed with them!!!

Next time, next time they'll get him to admit it is/will be totes canon.

You want to talk backbone? Your fave at the 11th hour got on the Clooney bandwagon to stab Biden in the back and give the VP only a few weeks to campaign, not months. The same fave that has backtracked on multiple issues and very firmly rides the fence on critical issues. I’d maybe stfu about what the others are doing or not doing. In addition, M has always been in to politics, he worked at the White House as an intern or some shit, it’s what he wanted to do first, it’s what he’s passionate about more than acting, and he seems to attract an equally political (yet slacktivist) fanbase full of hateful people.

Jared (and Jensen) are not into talking politics. Nor is it something they should have to do. Most of their fans, unlike M’s, are not interested in being preached to, we’re here to escape and enjoy something, time enough to be hit with reality when we see the news. We know right from wrong, we don’t need a bunch of actors shoving it down people’s throats, particularly given that a lot of their fans are not based in US.

However, just to state facts, Jared is a registered democrat, he donates to the democratic party, he’s been a known democrat to all but dumb fuck haters with a shipping agenda since pre Obama.

He has campaigned in Texas for several people including, Buttigieg and MJ Hegar and the mayor of Austin (all democrats). He was an active campaigner for the Biden campaign in 2020, having FaceTime with Jill Biden herself.

Jared seems to prefer to make a difference at a local city/state than federal level which I personally agree with. I’m at a loss to name one thing that can be attributed to M changing himself. And while Jared’s not one to grandstand on the latest trending topic or rush out to take a quick picture in whatever march de jour is going on and upload it to social media, he has attended and spoken to the state legislature to champion a bill against bullying in schools, which passed btw. He was also credited by the mayor for championing Austin and bringing jobs to the area for Walker. In addition to local politics, he also gets involved in supporting things like lgbtq charities (e.g. donating an entire year’s running costs to one such organisation). He’s also an active campaigner for mental health initiatives working specifically with a couple of charities. Those are just some of the things we know but Jared is generally very quiet about these things, he’s not one to blow his own trumpet and these usually come out from others.

Jared’s fans know who he is and what he stands for, the only reason I’m writing this is because the hateful people that put a fetish ship in a fictional world above the good things someone is doing in the real world can’t be left unaddressed.

I know there’s a lot of discourse between abused atticwife Sam and possessive domtop Sam in terms of his character but guys I just tried to read a destiel fanfic because a tiktok comment section was absolutely raving about it and I was curious and let me tell you, NO ONE mischaracterizes Sam more than the destihellers. They took his one trait that everyone can agree on (caring about his brother) and somehow butchered it. It was even tagged canon compliant, thats genuinely how they saw Sam.

They also made it so all Dean could think about after cas’s death was cas, to the point where he was annoyed at Sam. The same Sam he made cas homeless as a human for?? Idk guys he didn’t look too crippled with grief when he was gobbling down pie and making vamp mime jokes

The thing that Annoys me about hellers isnt with the ship itself, i have no issues with anyone shipping anything in supernatural

My issue is with their attitude, their attitude of "Dean and cas are in love with each other and its canon and if you disagree you are a homophobe"

But anyone saying the show has queerbaited you because of lines like:

has obviously not spent more than 5 minutes in the company of a group of men that forget you’re a woman. Seriously, this is not queerbaiting, this is how all guys I have ever met talk to one another. 

The lines haven’t been put in to “queerbait” you, you seriously need to go off and look at what queerbaiting is because yet again, you are latching on to a very real problem and trying to apply it to a show that has never once done it. It is not queerbaiting for 2 men to be in the same scene, it is not queerbaiting for 2 men to look at each other for more than 1 second, it is not queerbaiting for one man to love another man platonically and to be upset if something happens to that man.

 And you know that because you seem to be perfectly okay at ignoring all of this when it’s Sam that’s involved and not Dean.

You are not getting canon Destiel, you can have your little tantrum, you can try to ruin the reputation of the show, but you  will not achieve any of that. In 20 years, the legacy of Sam and Dean will be looked back on fondly and the guy in the trenchcoat will be on “whatever happened to…” shows and that really burns you up.
