“STOP IT!” Suna shrieked, regaining control of her body. She breathed heavily, her body shaking as she stared in horror. “Kairi!” she exclaimed, kneeling down beside the redhead. “Kai, I’m so sorry! I tried to keep him at bay, but he just took over! I’m so sorry! I-I can fix this!” The princess of heart reached out and touched Suna’s hand weakly, a tiny grin appearing on her face.
“I know... those eyes...” Kairi whispered. “Your eyes were... golden... It’s Xehanort... isn’t it...?” Suna’s heart skipped a beat. ‘She knows.’ The witch gave a slow nod. “Yes. He’s buried himself into my heart, and he’s forcing his way out. He’s using me to hurt you – to kill you. Kai, I’m so sorry. Just give me a minute – I think I can fix this.”
Kairi’s smile grew just a hint. “It’s okay, Suna... I know this is... the end for me.” Suna’s eyes began to mist as she quickly shook her head. “Don’t give up on me, babygirl. Just stay with me.” She felt a sharp pain in her heart, making Suna lose her breath for just a moment. ‘No, Xehanort... I won’t...!’ Kairi closed her eyes and sighed softly. “It’s okay, Suna... Sora will... protect my heart again...”
Suna felt her throat tighten. The sound of Sora’s name was just enough to make her tears spring from her eyes. This wasn’t what she wanted. She didn’t want to hurt Kairi. She wanted to protect her. And yet here she was, looking over Kairi’s dying body because Xehanort finally had enough of a grip on her to use her this way.
‘Do it,’ Xehanort’s voice rang in Suna’s head. The witch clenched her fist. “N-no...” she whispered. ‘Do as I command!’ his voice shouted. Suna threw her head back, screaming loudly as Xehanort fought to take over once more. The witch looked back down, her eyes fading to a brilliant golden color. Kairi slowly opened her eyes, looking up to see the possessed Suna.
“Sora will... beat you again,” she breathed. Xehanort laughed aloud. “He will try,” he spoke through Suna, “and he will fail.” Xehanort rose to his feet and summoned a Keyblade that Kairi had never before seen. He gave it a twirl and raised it high over his head. “Where is your light now?” Xehanort scoffed before bringing his blade down, decapitating the princess of heart.
“Life begins in darkness, and it so ends...”
