oh yeah @tiefling-queer tagged me to make some ocs in this tma picrew so i made some of my star wars people into avatars!

1. dodge gets the lonely, most of his negative character development is kicked off by his feelings of alienation and isolation when he's taken into the jedi order so this one was kinda a no brainer

2. steel gets the hunt, he's the member of the squad who remains loyal to the republic even after it becomes the empire and actually quite likes the challenge of hunting down jedi during o66 so i feel like the hunt would be a pretty natural progression for him

3. ruusaan is one of the few who escapes intact and gets a happy ending so her becoming a full avatar doesn't feel right but she'd definitely be vulnerable to the stranger, between her dysphoria and being identical to thousands of her brothers she definitely wouldn't be a fan of her reflection

4. shabuir also gets the stranger, he runs away pretty early into the war and disappears into the perpetual nightlife of the coruscant underworld, somewhere that it's very easy to lose your self in the crowds

5. nerves gets the end, he's the squad's medic and has an anxiety disorder in the middle of a war he is constantly aware of how easily he and the people he loves could die at any moment of course he's the end

6. zulya gets the dark, after escaping o66 she disappears to the outer rim, vows to never use the force again, and takes a "don't ask don't tell" policy about her old life and everything about it; some things are better off hidden (she's not a clone but she's close to some of the squad so she's here too)

i'm struggling to think of tma mutuals who have ocs, so if that's you feel free to do this and say i tagged you

I appreciate that Forge World has clued in to the fact that you shouldn’t need to buy a whole Destroyer squad for each special weapon, but I’m not sure that I get a Destroyer vibe from these models. Angel’s Tears lack the visibly reinforced armor plating of the standard Legion Destroyers, and aside from the trefoil design there’s really nothing to call them out, visually.

They look like they’d make a great basis for Legion veterans - just swap those Destroyer trefoils for saltires - though you might want to switch out the helmets to something a little less Emperor’s Children.

Finally got around to building the alternate missile launcher for my Destroyer squad. Pretty happy with how it turned out, although it wound up being a more intensive conversion than I was expecting due to the age of the donor model’s sculpt. Destroyers were designed with the old habit of molding the arm and hand in one part, so that you can drop in any weapon by clipping off its grip; as opposed to the more modern affectation of modeling the hand gripping the weapon and gluing it to the arm at the wrist.

Which meant carefully trimming away the Destroyer’s original hand so that the more modern Proteus-II would fit under the armored vambrace. In retrospect, I’m not sure that it’s worth the trouble - I may just use a pair of plastic Mk IV arms next time.

Spiked, studded and riveted shoulder pads are neat, but it can complicate doing accurate heraldry. Traditionally, you’d just go ahead and swap the chapter insignia to whichever side is flat but I kind of feel like goes a little too far towards breaking squad cohesion, and with these very handsome Destroyer shoulders from Plokoone’s Bits, I'd have hated for any of them to go to waste.

Fortunately, the Mk IV jump pack presented a convenient solution in the form of a large, flat surface with just enough curve to easily take one of Pop Goes the Monkey’s Ultramarines sergeant icons. One of their curved icons would probably be better, but it looks fine to me as is.

It’s not strictly Codex-compliant iconography, but that’s okay because the Codex hasn’t been written yet. And besides, Destroyers are kind of an edge case for strict adherence to protocol, already.
