❛ fine, but in protest, i’m walking over there extremely slowly! ❜ / @detectim
dick’s never really wanted to be a meta. in his line of work, maybe he should’ve. maybe wished upon a falling star every time he was in the medbay in hopes of attaining an indestructible body, or hell, replication for every time he’d needed to be in two places at once. not once had he actually hoped for it beyond a passing thought. an idea he’s not even sure he’d want. WHICH MAKES TODAY THE FIRST. right now, dick would take teleportation, or hell even invisibility without hesitation if that meant delaying the inevitable. he hasn’t been back here in awhile. not since . . . yeah. hasn’t seen bruce in almost the same, and while he’d like to say that all of his late night rants to wally and pseudo arguments with dick’s own mirror on what he’d even say in this exact situation, got it out of his system . . . he’s not ready to make up. that would require forgiveness and dick’s not sure if either of them have it in them. ENTER TIM DRAKE. the kid who knows all their secrets. the kid who wouldn’t go home, and dick couldn’t just leave alone, thus resulting in their respective spots at wayne manor. alfred let them in. dick didn’t have his key anymore, and while he’d kind of hoped beyond hope that maybe bruce was space-side right now or some equivalent distance away, they’d been informed he’d be home in five minutes. he gets what tim is trying to do here but from PERSONAL and years of experience : it won’t work. dick’s not even sure he wants it to. tim’s slow protest walk was looking more like a crawl. or maybe even just a standstill, and dick rolled his eyes good-naturedly. above all else, tim was a good kid. maybe a bit idealistic, and with shocking detective skills most grown adults don’t even develop, but dick wouldn’t let his frustrations with bruce come out against an innocent kid. that was always his lesson to learn. anyways, maybe it would actually be best if tim stayed for what was next to come. maybe he & bruce needed a reason to behave. “ fine, but if you stay, let me talk to him first. ”
