“Detective Ishimaru Kiyotaka! At your service!” (AU)
What if Ishimaru was a detective himself? Ishimaru in this AU still represents a figure with high morals, gifted with the same canon personality and speech however, in this version, his powerful logical insights were far more appreciated than his moral compass, so he became known as the ultimate detective in the eyes of the media after his valuable help in several difficult cases. He hated the popularity. He would rather be seen by his hardwork than by his so-called “talent”. He claimed that his talent was inspired by his father (a policeman) and result of his dedicated strong mindset towards studying and morals. He wished not to be related to his grandfather. He wanted to inspire others to work hard on their daily life, but everyone around him cared solely about his success as a detective.
I even wrote a small story for this AU (enjoy!):
The first year for the 78th class (Note: Makoto’s class) in Hope Peak’s Academy had just started a few weeks ago, however without missing a beat, Junko’s plans were already on stage - these schemes were carried quietly in order to (obviously) prevent someone to notice. With that strategy in mind, Junko hoped the blow-up would be grandeur, so big that no one could stop it. Ishimaru noticed some changes in the Academy that normally one would NOT notice. Of course, he was an excellent observer, as expected from the ultimate detective. He started an investigation and discovered that a school board member was amiss and his investigation lead to the diamonds’ biker gang. Thankfully, he believed Mondo wasn’t involved in the mystery he had at hands, Ishimaru knew that atleast one person from the gang would be found associated with Junko. Ishimaru quickly discussed that matter with the leader - and of course, he rejected to give any information about any member. “I know them.”Mondo refuted “They’re clean” he insisted “They are family so you can give up! I will tell you nothin’.” But that state of spirit did not last long. A few days later after his argue with Ishimaru, Mondo spotted some subtle changes (traces of despair) too in a few people of his gang - one too many, he thought. He started worrying that such behaviours would easily affect the whole group so he teamed up with Taka and told him everything he could, in exchange for help to restore whatever damage it had started in the gang. “I want to continue my brother’s legacy.”By working together, they figured they had a lot in common and that were both two admirable and respectful people, despite the past or common sense. They became close friends very quickly….
While I was writing the story above, a scene run through my head - when Ishimaru confronted Mondo with evidence that someone in his gang was involved in the disappearance of the board member.
Ishimaru: “I know that one of your biker friends is involved in the disappearence of Mr. XX” Mondo: “Then show me evidence, sh*thead!” Ishimaru: “In his apartment, I found a single golden button and some ripped fabric - both of which, correspond to your gang’s uniform. Not only that, a few blonde hairs were collected throughout the house. Mr. XX hair is only grey” Mondo: “Why AREN’T YOU f*ckin’ accusing me, then?” Ishimaru: “Why would I? Aside from the button and ripped fabric, the hair could have not belonged to you. First of all, no gel or hairspray were found in the sample. Secondly… it was a natural blonde hair and ONLY blonde hairs were found - you, on the other hand, would have lost a mix of both yellow and brunette.” Mondo: “So what?! My f*ckin’ hair is naturally blonde.” Ishimaru: “As if I would belived that.” Mondo: “You little piece of sh*t…” Ishimaru: “Plus, despite the crass language, I believe you’d not get yourself involved in the disappearence of a innocent person. I know you are a good person, Oowada.” Mondo: “F*ck off before I rip you to f*ckin’ shreds!”
I just wanted to share some extra material in accordance with this post. First, it’s the sketch that inspired the digital version:
Secondly, I would like to show you the speedpaint (+ tutorial) video I’ve published on youtube about Ishimaru’s portrait - I explain the various brushes that I use AND how I use them.
