Taking Risks //detective—reed

A crash came from the living room, causing Simon to jolt up from where he sat doing his homework. His mother’s laughter was broken up by hiccups and that told him all he needed to know. His parents had gone to the bar and overdone it. A look at his alarm clock told him they’d started early this time; it was only four in the afternoon.
“Simon!” The yell made him jump yet again. “Get your ass down here and clean up this fucking mess!”
Simon swallowed the lump in his throat as he left his bedroom to go downstairs. “Coming, Dad.”
Well at least the thing that got broken wasn’t important. Just some thrift store vase his mom always told him was ugly and a shitty Mother’s Day gift. He didn’t say a word as he got to work cleaning the broken glass from the floor. His mother was giggling and rolling all over the couch. His father was watching him with disdain from the kitchen.
“Useless boy.” The blonde just tried his best to ignore the hurtful words that were always being aimed his way. “Never doing a god damn thing around here and you won’t even look your old man in the eye. What else could I expect from a fucking-“
Simon blocked him out. He never should’ve told them he was gay. All he wanted to do was throw away the glass in his hands and go back to doing homework. But before he could his dad grabbed him by the collar of his shirt.
“You’re a fucking disgrace. Can’t believe I never realized you were a damn twink. Fucking looking at you makes me sick.” The man pushed him back, causing Simon to drop the glass in his hands. One piece sliced the palm of his hand.
The boy backed up to the front door trying to get out. “Get away from me!”
