What are wisdom teeth, and why do they need to be removed?
Wisdom teeth are the third set of molars that typically emerge in your late teens or early twenties. They may need to be removed if they:
Are impacted (unable to fully emerge due to lack of space).
Cause pain, swelling, or infection.
Push other teeth out of alignment. Not all wisdom teeth need removal—if they’re healthy and positioned correctly, they can stay. Regular dental checkups and X-rays help determine if removal is necessary.
