Blood Orange vs. Sweet Ecorcist: Uncle Testone
Blood Orange "I Know"
On repeat
Week of June 26th - July 2nd, 2016 R.O.T.W
Blood Orange did a beautiful thing for the world yesterday. He dropped his new album Freetown Sound, with heavy influence from his Sierra Leone roots.
There’s definitely an 80′s pop vibe to the album which is a signature for Blood Orange, but you cannot deny the strength behind each track. From the first song, “By Ourselves” we get a powerful monologue on womanhood and feminism to the last song, “Better Numb” where we’re put in a slow moving cloud, watching time go by till he sings us out with “Sandra’s Smile”.
There’s a lot of heart here.I’ve gone through the album about 3 times on Spotify, but it also available on a number of platforms. My favourite thus far has to be “E.V.P.” It’s upbeat, dancey, and fits wonderfully in my summer playlist.
Blood Orange effortlessly slides in as the Release Of The Week.
