I don't pretend to be a Vashti Bunyan fan from years past. I came to her music through a television show, Patriot. The opening credits use the "Train Song". Hooked, I needed more and bought "Just Another Diamond Day" and “Some Things Just Stick In Your Mind”. I also made a post using "Fragments du Monde Flottant", a compilation curated by Devandra Banhart. I knew about "Lookaftering" at the time, but didn't buy it.

Now, Pias Recordings has reissued the album on 2 LP vinyl (along with demos) and Monorail has a few signed copies (Bunyan lives in Edinburgh).

I am forever annoyed by Bowie type white men. Y’all take up so much space and try to establish queerness or whatever for yourself so you can justify your abusive habits romantically and sexually and your coopting of trans strife as exclusively your artistic pleasure yielding concept and get away with it bc y’all probably play in an elusive rock band where you wear glitter for a night to be gawked at as a star. Y’all are Space Oddities huh? Creating queer capsule polyamory groups that you cultically herald into Your egonomic future huh?

Y’all are just left of normatively experimenting for cis art bros and suck. I don’t believe in your queer or non-binaryness, i believe in your monopolization of narratives again and again (with your compulsive cosmic enumeration of all the gender markers on your insta) as was done by artistic cis white men to so many marginalized narratives that weren’t theirs again and again. From the integrity of Black forms of expression in the last 100 years to that Indo-Vedic in the 50s and 60s to that of “gay” to that of now non-binary/queer , y’all dip in at a pivotal time only to check out when you’ve exhausted the integrity that wasn’t yours. I don’t see a dialogue expanded by you, I see consumptive zeal, I see a flagrant reflection of your own narcissism beginning and ending within itself. There is a space for those whom experience their queerness and non-binaryness with integrity, it’s felt, it’s seen, it brims on them to the bone, and y’all are taking it up with your obnoxious minstreling.
