I haven't watched a single episode of Miraculous Ladybug since season 1. Maybe a clip here or there, but definitely nothing more than 1-2 minutes long. So trying to piece together the current plot from what I've seen on Tumblr over the last 4 years has been an absolute joy, because I have no idea what the fuck is going on anymore but whatever is going on is pissing everyone the hell off.

A bit of both.

At the beginning, she keeps them tied up in her tent. She has them sit out with her by the fire whenever it's her time to keep watch, and she never lets them out of eyesight.

Once she knows they won't run (after a messy failed escape attempt, where they weren't actually trying to escape, but Circe didn't let them explain) she finally lets them have a bit of freedom, and gives them some simple chores like gathering firewood, helping with the cooking, fetching water. She never lets them go too far out of her sight, though, and whenever she has to leave camp for whatever reason, she leaves them tied up in her tent.

She's not completely heartless, though, and tells one of her close friends in the camp to check up on Oakley every so often, to give them some water, let them up to go relieve themself if they need to, etc.
