putting my new grimoire down and sighing as i find it is nothing but sorceric jargon written by dark practitioners blowing air
OK so I finished the first seven books in the Deverry Cycle and I have thoughts TM
1) Yes I started reading a what XD 16 novel series because I love a song. No I am not normal about the song or the one who sings it moving on.
2) Said song is about a very cool girl and we'll keep it at that and we'll skip the whole doomed lovers turned teacher/student via reincarnation because eh. Not a fan of the guy tbh I mean he's a little shit which is fun but eh. Not here for the romance side of it (which btw thank God it changed in time to a more platonic thing because it would have been weird af)
3) Kinda funny how bards are a big thing in this, like not main characters per se but they do play a big part
4) A lot more funnier than that basically there are 2 kickass ladies who went fuck having a husband let's study magic. Honestly good for them
5) On that note - WHY.ISN'T.JILL/DALLANDRA. A. THING
6) On the same note. Let me rephrase this for you. You have one human girl who is very attuned to nature and magic and who goes eh fuck my love life let's study magic. Then you have another girl who is an elf and she leaves her partner to study magic but also because a guy told her so. And said guy is a pompous ass. (Still hope Dallandra will screw him and focus on the magic side, she came really close to this). But. But. Two girls leaving everything behind to focus on doing magic (together)? And again pompous ass being the one who kinda initiates one of them in magic? Look I can forgive Deverry cycle fans for not seeing this. But whyyyyyyy did the Sharja gang sleep on this in 2014 😭
