@merganfm — I have managed to fulfill the childhood fantasy of having minor dragons by incorporating them into my D&D setting as pseudodragon variants! Green minor dragons allow you to take the max role on your hit die during short rests, purples grant a few bardic inspirations a day, orange/yellows provide advantage on saves against being frightened, ect. Highly recommend! :D

I'm rereading the Dragon Keeper Chronicles, and...sad. Because there's like. No fandom for it. And it's a good series, this is like the third or fourth time I've reread it. It's one of those books I keep coming back to-simple but good. A little heavy on the religious parts, but it's part of the plot so... And I wosh it had a fandom, or a bigger one because I'd love to talk to someone about this series, and know their thoughts and stuff. I need more opinions dangit, even if they're not ones I agree with.

I just realized why Garak felt so familiar to me before I started watching DS9.

There’s this book series by Donita K. Paul called “The DragonKeeper Chronicles”

And in the second book we’re introduced to a character named Regidor.

Who (while maybe not actually looking exactly the same) has certain similar physical attributes. As well as a penchant for the dramatics, surprisingly strong, a mysterious past/history the audience doesn’t know (to be fair Regidor doesn’t know his history, either--more like Odo in that respect, but still). And many similar descriptions of facial features. Trouble with not being the one in authority, at times. Dragon/Snake references to his countenance.

Just. They’re similar in a lot of ways. And not similar in many ways as well. 

But reading that book again, I realized Regidor felt way too familiar to me for not having read the book in a couple of years.

(Also I totally recommend that series by the way. Book 1 is DragonSpell)

tfw a childhood book series you’d remembered as pretty normal fantasy fare turns out to be, upon rereading, a suuuuuper pronounced religious allegory AHA.

still an extremely charming read + delightful trip down memory lane! I always wanted a minor dragon ;o;
