NEVER HAVE I EVER (2020-)
Devi & Ben through the years
guys ben was there for devi and pushed her because he knew her and he knew that she would regret not going after princeton and not being with her mom when they were spreading the ashes and he just knows her and he accepts her for who she is and he makes her be the best version of herself and benvi is just so beautiful
devi vishwakumar just spent an entire year pining for ben gross, if you even fucking care
Well, NHIE has been brilliant.
I remember watching the show and at first, I was a little surprised at how chaotic it was and questioned whether I liked it or not. But, as I kept watching it quickly became one of my favorite shows because I just loved how finally there was a main character that was unapologetically messy, made mistakes and was just all around human. You know like at first you hate Devi because you’re all like, “Wtf this girl’s a mess.” And then you realize that well…she’s kind of like most people. She’s messy ass hell, problematic, and not the best person at times. But that’s okay because no one is perfect and I think that was the driving point behind NHIE. That no matter how good your grades are, no matter how good looking you are or how popular you are, it’s still likely that you’ll never be perfect. And that’s okay, because expecting perfection out of a human that’s literally designed to fail sometimes is exhausting and not healthy. But what is healthy is accepting your flaws, and actively working towards being the best version of yourself but also realizing you’re gonna slip up sometimes.
But that’s okay.
Because Never Have I Ever been perfect, and I related so much with these characters that aren’t either.
I’m sorry Daxtons, I really am, but do you really still expect Paxton to be endgame when he’s technically a faculty member of Sherman Oaks now? I get that he’s merely a year older than Devi but to me it’s really a show of how different their stages at life are.
Because literally… Even if Devi caught up with Paxton, why should she? There’s literally a boy who is walking in life at the same pace and is at the same stage with her. He who—from the very start of the series—was established to be someone she’s growing up with. Why choose someone who can grow out of you when you can choose someone who will grow with you?
Even if we put the Mindy Kaling formula out of the window, the establishment reads Ben Gross.
what do you think devi and ben’s pet names for each other would be and why is it princess and nerd?
I think I have a superpower
So the buck being bi thing just made me realize something. I think I have a superpower. I just started watching the series as it comes out this season right, well this season is when they made buck canonically bi. This has happened before for me. I started watching supernatural as it came out on the last season. They made Cas and Dean Canon in the last season. I started watching teen Wolf as it came out on the last season, They made Lydia and stiles canon in the last season. I started watching Andy Mack in the last season. They made Cyrus and TJ canon in the last season. It’s happened other times too but those are the times it happened with the BIGGEST ships.
