Chloe had told him he was lonely, that she was concerned for him. She was built to cater to his needs, like a maid or a secretary, and that was all it ever turned out being. He never thought to do--other things with her which was when she pointed out he was lonely because of it. He didn’t have that connection, that companionship, especially because he never went outside. He kept to himself in his Villa, watching the world around him and CyberLife’s every single move. It wasn’t like he’d go out and meet anyone either, to much work and to much--socializing. Every time she suggested a party he turned her down, it was clear he didn’t want to make connections or however else she worded it. At least not like that.
So Chloe suggested he build one. At first he wasn’t sure what she meant, building a friend all seemed rather childish. Then she takes it further, tells him to create a partner, that it might all be what it takes for him to be a little less lonely. He didn’t think it was that bad, he did things alright and he didn’t mope around--Elijah just works until he passes out and then when he gets up he works some more. It seemed rather fine to him.
But then she’s telling him to try, and Elijah is never one to give up a challenge.
He names the project CONNOR the RK800.
He creates him with the ideal that it would be the perfect lover, much like the other androids that get issued out to Eden Club or some other place. But he doesn’t make him exactly the same he makes him smart, with different abilities, like everything in one. It seems stupid, he was supposed to make a partner but it ends up becoming something--else. He dresses him in nice clothes, turns him on--and then leaves him with Chloe. Unsure what else to do. He created--it and then felt awkward. Maybe he should give him to the police station.
