we dont believe in such things that sometimes we push it to the side, what if these things are actually real and its creepy to say if you ask me. but i love talking about it and acting it out. it may not be something you would agree with me. just believe its something that should be talked about and actually seem like its not make believe.

Everyone I’ve met who works with the Devil—including myself—have some type of belief in his various “roles” or “modes” (e.g. Devil in Green, Devil in Red, Devil in Black).

Do you believe in modes of the Devil and if so what are they?

The Devil has shown various faces to me, yes. I do find the red/green/black model to be very useful, and very compatible with how he appears to me. He usually appears to me as the classic dapper gentleman in black, or as a regular goat. These I personally categorize as the Black and Green facets, respectively. I find the Devil in Red to be a mystery I am still unraveling at the moment, and I think I shall keep the result of that one close to my chest.

On the other hand, some days I find that such models can be a little oversimplified. Part of working with the Devil is understanding that he can't really be boxed in by any metric. Labels are useful until you reach a certain point, and then it kind of breaks down to the point where it's not as useful to contemplate it anymore. Names for spirits, in general, are quite similar. Defining a spirit by one name and one lore and one data set only closes you off, I think, from seeing how that spirit may intersect with others like them.

There is certainly room for nuance within each cultural and regional variation, but sometimes useful things can be found in what is shared between archetypes.

Do you have any unpopular opinions on devil work, or the devil at all? I am curious 👀

I went back and forth on how to say this-- this is the unpopular opinion game, not the generate hate on purpose game-- but I think that a lot of people try to work with the Devil and then take all the Christianity out of him, and that's kind of missing the point.

The Devil isn't a pagan god, or a pre-Christian figure. He is the quintessential Christian figure, recontextualized in a format that actually serves the magic user, rather than have them constantly living in fear of him. And while the Christian "adversary figure" is not the end-all be-all of his whole deal, he also can't be completely divorced from that context.
