I think today will be for catching up with the Black Book, writing petitions to the Devil and working on an embroidery project. 🧵
Litany for Lucifer
Wingless creature, fallen for the sake of pride,
You who chose to wander the Earth as beast and man, hear my prayer.
Sun and star, You whom in Your face reflect the light of a forsaken God, hear my prayer.
Black-cloaked and shadow-furred, You who bear the Witch’s Spark betwixt your mighty horns, hear my prayer.
Angel of the Morning, herald of the dawn, You who gave illumination to the minds and hearts of man, hear my prayer.
Ophidian demon, You who whispered temptation into the ear of Eve, deliverer from darkness, hear my prayer.
Father of Cain, progenitor of murder, You from whom all sin and salvation flows, hear my prayer.
Consort of Elphame, keeper of the Black Books, You who dance at the Sabbat Flame, hear my prayer.
Praise be to You, oh Lucifer, from the heights of Heaven to the depths of Hell.
Praise be to the sacred fruit which bears the memory of Your designs.
Praise be to Your children, borne in the blood of exile.
Grant that I may walk in Your radiance,
Amen.
My favorite hagstone, enchanted to help make my Second Senses better, like a pair of metaphysical glasses.
Full moon maintenance done and dusted. 🌜✨
(this is stuff like "refueling" my divination tools and various oils, feeding familiars, charging wards, and stopping by the Devil's Sacrament briefly)
Madison Julius Cawein, “Aphrodite.”
He is your rebel with a cause, with a sinner’s smile and panting breath. His chest heaves, hips steely like his lips of iron. Kiss him - and know you’ve sealed your fate.
Leaf of Martian powers true,
Devil's rattle, pallid bloom,
Stand round about me, sword and shield,
My verdant allies of the field.
A little protection magic on the self.
Your terror I shun.
A bone white skull and the blood of the land for an old headless friend.

Very sketchy page in one of my spare inserts, inspired by "sub rosa" and secrets of Themselves
I've been going on a deep dive into the King Arthur mythos as it pertains to Fairy Faith. The main object of my attention at the moment is the story of Sir Gawain and the Green Knight-- a topic from which Briar of the Greene Chapel gets her website name and has done some comprehensive exploration into already: the Green Knight's connection to oaths, honor, right leadership, and fixed star Aldebaran.
I am specifically intrigued by the "moral" of the story, if there is such a thing. The Green Knight does not cut off Gawain's head like he said he would. Instead, he gives him a small cut on his neck after Gawain flinches at the strike. At Gawain's confusion and embarrassment at flinching, the Green Knight explains that he showed up at the Green Chapel as promised; he's done his absolute best to fulfill the pact he made and that's what counts.
This is a curious message to impart. The Folk are well known to be quite exacting with their words. If you were to make a deal, you'd better follow it to the letter-- so it's interesting to see a member of Themselves (and a knight, no less, a double helping of oaths and being true to one's word) make such a notable exception.
Perhaps the Folk understand that we are human still, and that we are not perfect, but still trying. Perhaps they are inclined to give leniency in the face of honest effort, just as we can be.
Yes I am using my solar oil left over from the solstice to make customers at my mundane job behave favorably to me, thank you for asking
Idk, more and more I take a pretty dim view when practitioners try to shoehorn a spirit into being something they're really not connected to.
Not just the way some goddesses get turned into the dark mommy domme figure (although, that's been going on forever - when does it end??). I also see it with gods, saints, and even fair folk too.
No, I know - UPG. Got it. Right. Okay. I'm not discrediting that either, what I am saying is that if your UPG is a complete 180 from what's been recorded of that spirit's personality or sphere of influence, and doesn't align with any kind of known lore or syncretism or shared gnosis among others... maybe we take just one minute and critically examine why we we're so eager to make the square peg fit in the round hole.
My blog is slowly getting more and more art on it and I love that
