* FUUUUUUUCK

* okay, so i've never been this angry, sad or heartbroken about a case in my life, and I would like to extend a heartfelt fuck you to the police, prosecution and trial judge involved in this mess

* i've read about a lot of fucked up shit, but this one takes the cake

* it's the story of three teenager boys hailing from a rural town in Arkansas, accused and later convicted, one of them with the death penalty, of killing 3 eight year olds

* nevermind there was zero physical evidence linking them to the murders, nevermind that one of them was coerced by the police into making a false confession, nevermind that witness testimony was false and fabricated, nevermind there was a stronger suspect that the police never thoroughly investigated, no. One of the teenagers was into heavy metal, Stephen King, and practiced Wicca - obviously this was a satanic, cult motivated murder and the other two were his accomplices

* i cannot express how many times i've yelled while reading this book and it's absolutely astounding to me how this story progressed

* it's a textbook study on the failings of the American justice system and how it always, always punishes the poor and underprivileged

* every single child involved in this story has been failed by the system and by the adults that should have been protecting them

* if you're thinking of picking this up, trigger warnings for graphic descriptions of how the victims died
