Feeling the Textures and Grits of Sandstone (Arches National Park) by Mark Stevens Via Flickr: While walking back from the Navajo Arch on my way to explore more of the Devils Garden, I noticed the sandstone wall next to me. A few things drew me into touching and looking at it. One was the look with the patterns, holes and weathering made over the ages. Another was just feeling it with the grit and textures. So I zoomed into one spot, attempting to find that right focus to look across and draw the eye while leaving other areas a little out of focus.

A Distant View to the Black Arch (Arches National Park) by Mark Stevens Via Flickr: From an overlook along the Devils Garden Loop Trail with a view to the northeast. In an image captured later on while hiking this trail, I would have a more direct on view of the sandstone fins that one can see here looking perpendicular across. At that latter vantage point along the hiking trail, one could see just how tightly packed in they are with little footage in between them across the entire area of Fin Canyon.

A Deer Crossing in Arches National Park by Mark Stevens Via Flickr: A point on the Devils Garden Loop Trail not long after departing the trailhead. Then a herd of deer ambled by as part of their morning outing. For the image itself, I cropped out some nearby foreground to focus more on the midground grasses with deer and then leading to the sandstone fin and rock formation.

Currents of Air Move Wisps of White (Arches National Park) by Mark Stevens Via Flickr: Currents of Air Move Wisps of White The blues of skies are streaked with tendrils of clouds above I look up and see the good Earth all around This is truly a beautiful place to be in awe of. Another attempt at a poetry or prose with an image captured from a recent trip to Utah and Arches National Park. Here I wanted to capture that look across the famous Landscape Arch. Nearby are the greens of trees and other large bushes to complement the browns and oranges of the sandstone rock formation. Above that and at the image top are blue skies with wisps of clouds adding both a color contrast and almost serene nature backdrop.
