The Organ and Tower of Babel Caught in the Golden Light of the Morning Sun (Arches National Park) by Mark Stevens Via Flickr: A view captured just prior to the Courthouse Towers viewpoint. While there were other spots along the road that early morning to stop, this one seemed to best have that layered view in the landscape with one sandstone fin after another. Greens and yellows of the nearby desert vegetation and blue skies of the skies above would be the color contrast to complete the setting.
Windows South and North (Arches National Park) by Mark Stevens Via Flickr: A view to the west while walking the Windows Primitive Loop Trail. I wanted to capture that view looking across the reds and greens of the Utah high desert with a look beyond to the famous arches carved in sandstone. As I've come to appreciate with this setting, there was a contrast of colors which seemed to complement each other for the final image. I later used some CEP filters (Low Key, Polarization and Graduated Neutral Density) which seemed to best bring out the final look I wanted even with the bright sunlight from the early afternoon.
