ALBUMS OF THE WEEK! Here’s the albums that got the most plays out of me. Hooded Menace takes the top spot with their stellar new release, The Tritonus Bell. I’d never listened to this band before, and bought the CD on a whim at the record store because of the cool album art. Blind buys don’t always work out so well, but this was a total success for me. The carefully crafted balance of doom, death, and traditional heavy metal form a perfect recipe. I can’t say enough good about this one. Next, Obsequiae was close behind with their debut album, Suspended in the Brume of Eos. I wish I had discovered this one years ago. Ænigmatum and Devoid of Thought both have 2021 new releases that blew me away as well and are worthy of repeated listens. The rest are some choice favorites of mine from lists past.
