hi i was just wondering what’s the process of devoting yourself to a deity? are there certain things you need to do or take an oath to them in some way?
Hello, love!
Just really want to stress that devoting and oathing are NOT the same thing. You do not need to swear any oaths to be a devotee and I recommend you dont, at least not without really considering what you're committing to and if you can truly uphold it. But in all honesty, I say just stay away from oathing in general.
The actual process of devoting oneself is really up to you and your deity. They may have specific requirements for you to fulfill or not. If not, how you choose to announce your devotion to your deity is really up to you. I created all my devotional rituals myself because I find the personal touch to be the most powerful, profound, and effective. But that's just me.
Hey Mrs Dad. I’m sorry if you’ve answered this before (I’ll also try googling this but you’re the first person I thought of). I want to devote myself to Hades, Persephone, and Athena, but I’m not quite sure how to go about it especially because I’ve never heard of people devoting to more then one deity. Help pls.
Here’s my post on how i devoted myself to Aphrodite
A lot of people are devoted to multiple gods but they didn’t do it in one shot because it’s not really a good idea. I advise against devoting yourself to all of these gods at once. Choose one and first work on that relationship before adding more. I’m speaking from experience since I recently had to undevote myself from two gods. Take your time. There’s no rush. Make sure you can handle the title of “devotee” before you jump into multiple responsibilities.
Also I’m not entirely sure what your relationship is like with all of them but since it often gets confused that “devoting” is something entirely different from worshiping, it’s recommended for worshipers to have worshiped their god for a bit before even thinking about devotion.
I’m not saying you can’t, Im just encouraging you to think this through. There’s a reason you haven’t seen people devoting themselves to multiple deities at once.
