So dexcom rant.
So in the comment section, I'm seeing some people call anyone upset or complaining about the issue "entitled" or "whiners". Or that we surived without Dexcom g6 before.
So here we go again.
Another diabetes rant.
How much do you have to pay for your dexcom? With the amount they are charging me. I expect actual customer service and not a Facebook post after the fact of a server outage.
If you think Dexcom is making CGMs for the good of all Diabetics, think again. They make it to make money. They don't care about us, all they see when they look at us is money. You realize that their company could easily make their product use pharmacy benefits for everyone. Dexcom g6 cash price is $349 for a box of three sensors. Transmitters cash price $600. I recall that Dexcom g5 was hand crafted do therefore more 'expensive'. Dexcom g6 is automated, they no longer have to pay Individuals to handcraft g6. I recall dexcom saying that the g6 would be cheaper. Dexcom g 5 is $70 per sensor so cash price is $280. What does that tell us? Dexcom does not care about us. Does anyone remember the Costco deal fiasco? I do. Dexcom set up a deal with Dexcom g6 and they were dealing transmitters for $23 dollars and sensors for $100 for a very short while. Which I theorize means it cost lower than that to make dexcom g6.
I love having a CGM, I love not having to prick my fingers. You know what I don't love? Having to pay inflated prices for Dexcom's greed. Having to get a credit card solely to use for paying for my CGM is soul crushing. There is no reason why every Diabetic shouldn't have a CGM. There is no reason why we should have to pay so much. The only reason we are even getting a dexcom G7 is because now they have competition with Freestyle libre.
Yes, could Diabetics go back to finger pricking. But why go back? When we can and should go forward.
PS. Fuck Dexcom
So today my Dexcom cgm fell off when I was running ...
I had it placed on my upper abdomen and I was wearing a sweatband on my lower belly... I guess I didn’t anticipate the amount of sweating that I would do, plus it was raining so I was drenched...
I only noticed it was gone until after I stopped and checked my blood sugar... I ran about 4 miles and I got my car and drive the whole route and couldn’t find it...
I’m just hoping I can call the company to get it replaced for free because my refill for another one isn’t supposed to be until the next 3 months...
I’m SAD :(
no no no NO WHYS IT GOING DOWN NOO- NOOOO GRL PLEASE. I STG YOU ARE BEING INACCURATE, AUDACIOUS, AND DARE I SAY BITCHY AND YOU'VE ONLY BEEN WARMED UP FOR TEN DAMNED MINUTES

Messed up two days ago on a dexcom sensor insertion and holy crap look at that bruise. I thought I just nicked a vein. Aparently I was wrong.
We've had a wild ride today folks 😧
Rocking my favorite accessory.
Last year I was switched to an omnipod but I still constantly run higher than i should be so I was put on a dexcom. The dexcom helps but everytime I take it off, Im always too afraid to put it back on. Any advice??
Too afraid because you don’t feel comfortable with the insertion method or because it’s painful? If we’re talking about the former, Diabetic Danica created a great Dexcom insertion tutorial on her YouTube page that I’d recommend viewing:
If the problem is pain, I feel you. I’m a huge baby every time I try to insert a new sensor onto my rib cage (which is where the CDE trained me to insert it) but it’s a breeze whenever I do it on my tummy, arm, or leg. Fatty areas will hurt less, so try switching it up to find a location that is pain-free and convenient for you.
You can also try the method the 10-year-old I babysit for invented, which is to apply some kind of numbing agent to the area (any type of OTC topical anesthetic will work) a few minutes before insertion. It’s actually pretty genius.
Hope that helps!
