Day 30

The days of filming in the Yilan Tang Manor, there were so many kissing scenes almost daily, and today’s kissing scene followed FeiTang CP’s usual direction — filled with so much angst and torture, and so memorable.

This was the first scene after dinner, and from dinner onwards, both Chris and Jake, together with the director, had to adjust their emotions behind closed doors for a long while. The atmosphere at the filming set was also quieter and heavier than usual. The both of them kissed repeatedly, their clothes were repeatedly torn, and every time Director Gia shouted ‘cut’, she would move from the director’s screen, quietly walk into the room and give the both of them hugs. All the other crew members were also busy re-attaching the mics, mending the buttons, helping Chris and Jake to wipe away their tears and freshen their makeup, everything happened quietly. Before it was time to ‘action’, Chris and Jake would hug each other again, pat at each other’s backs, and tell each other to work hard.

Until they heard the director say ‘okay, next scene’ from the other end of the receiver, only then did their tears morph into smiles, and as they sat on the floor, they helped each other to wipe the tears on their faces (and all the saliva too).

Day 31

The winter cold draft attacks, and Zhao Zi and Jack fall into the water.

The day Zhao Zi and Jack fall into the water, a cold winter wind draft attcked, and Yilan’s temperatures fell to under 10 degrees Celcius, it was really cold. The staff already adjusted the temperature of the pool earlier, but the moment the water gets too hot it will start to emit steam like in a hot spring, so the two of them ended up soaking in the freezing pool amidst the 10 degree weather. The lighting master Brother Fa kindly took out a high voltage light for use as a heater, and helped Andy and Jack to keep warm. Aside from the warm lights, the production crew also prepared hot ginger tea, and once ‘cut’ sounded, everyone would rush up to provide towels, serve them tea, and help the both of them to warm up their bodies.

However, Zhao Zi who does not have much layers of fat was really too cold in the pool, holding the ginger tea in his hands he was shaking non-stop, and shaking very hard, and with that, the ginger tea also spilled against his wishes.

Day 32

The entire filming process was filled with scenes of Tang Yi revealing skin, and every time they had to film a ‘stripping scene’, Chris would personally prepare many gymming and exercise equipment on set. Before he was due to shoot, he would do two sets of push-ups and use the resistance band on his left and right arms about 30 times each, all these were necessary!

Actually, it’s not difficult for Chris, who has to maintain his physique, to exercise and gym, the most difficult part is resisting the urge to snack. Chris, who loves to eat, was in the makeup room to create a gunshot wound one day, and the staff next to him was making an order for fried chicken over the phone, “I want four portions of boneless fried chicken, sweet potato fries….”

Chris, who was listening, could only swallow with difficulty and faced with a table full of fried chicken but unable to eat it, he could only say at the side, “Let me smell it just a bit…”

Dao Yi, Hong Ye finally faced each other’s feelings for each other honestly.

Day 33

Explosive explosive! Today’s scene was the most anxiety-inducing scene so far in the filming for Trapped. Aside from having a really tight plotline, the filming set was also very serious. Early in the morning, Ah Zhi began to rehearse for his scene with his bloody makeup, and there was one move where Tang Yi needed to viciously grab at Ah Zhi’s head and slam it towards the floor. Where the camera lens couldn’t catch it they could still put a pillow on the floor, so that the head could safely land on the ground without injury, but when they changed a camera angle he wasn’t so lucky. In one or two takes, they heard a loud sounds where Ah Zhi’s forehead slammed against the floor, and although there was a carpet for protection, which dulled the force of the push, on his forehead emerged a red patch where he struck the floor.

And Shao Fei’s scene was also very nerve-wrecking. Tang Yi has to accidentally shoot at Shao Fei’s left chest, and a professional special effects master hid a wire and a packet of blood in Jake’s jacket. In sync with Chris and Jake’s acting, he would press the button and ‘pop’ the spot would emit some light sparks, and a bullet hole would explode through Jake’s jacket. The edges of the hole would be charred, and the blood would slowly drip out. It looks rather realistic, but Jake said that he didn’t feel it at all, because the professional master was right next to him, and the safety measures put in place were also rather detailed. Chris and Jake had some practice, be good and don’t imitate this!

Day 26

In the morning Jack and Zhao Zi were flirting in the living room, and at night our FeiTang couple were busy in the room upstairs. The whole day, the Tang house was filled with many pink bubbles (i.e. filled with the atmosphere of love XD).

Early morning in the living room, Jack cooked instant noodles for Zhao Zi who was starved for an entire night, but was overheard by Ah De who was hitting obstacles in both work and his love life. The both of them were so blinding in Ah De’s eyes, and in a heated moment of anger, he overturned Zhao Zi’s bowl of noodles. A dramatic scene was paired with an equally dramatic behind-the-scenes moment. In a spot hidden from the cameras, Ah De’s strength in slapping the bowl away was so huge that the bowl’s contents - noodles, meat slices and vegetables - flew out. The meat slices so precisely hung on the lighting crew’s lights, while a few strands of noodles landed on the floor behind as well. Fortunately, the crew were swift in moving out of the way, as they were almost treated to a ‘face wash’ of flying instant noodles.

The night descended on them, and Shao Fei looked at a a Tang Yi crying on his own before a dim lamp, a cake in his hands. So all these years, no one celebrated his birthday for him? This is the first kiss scene between Jake and Chris until now, and they had to both cry and kiss. Both of them really worked hard, and Officer Meng has finally stepped ahead of the smug and arrogant Andy.

Day 27

Today’s last scene, the one where Tang Yi couldn’t find Shao Fei, and after Shao Fei returned home and was ready to ask about Tang Yi’s background but was interrupted by a call, Tang Yi felt very awkward and not himself when he was acting all embarrassed and shy as well.

Seeing Jack take Zhao Zi home and the both of them flirting, Shao Fei revolving around the boss like the moon circulates around the Earth, Ah De, who has secretly loved Tang Yi for so long is finally pushed to the brink of his patience. Orginally, the scene where Ah De was supposed to simply just want to go jogging with his boss, under the director’s guidance, Ah De cried a single, heartwrenching tear, one which represented his one-sided love, and everyone else who saw it felt the ache deep in their hearts too.

Love is this cruel in reality. At night, Boss Tang and Officer Meng flirted as per usual, and Shao Fei disappeared for one night and day. Just like most people in love, once you cannot reach the most important person in your heart, Tang Yi was so anxious. He sent off so many messages, called Shao Fei so many times, afraid that an accident might have happened. And in the end, when he opened the door to see Shao Fei home and safe, the heavy weight in his heart finally vanished. At the same time, he really wanted to yell, “You dumbass!! Where did you die to these few days?!”

And at the end, giving each other a deep kiss. Why is it that these two days’ kiss scenes were so complicated? But this is also FeiTang couple’s specialty, every kiss is meaningful, with so many layers to it.

Day 28

It’s Boss (Old) Tang and Xiao Tang’s first time filming a scene together, and early in the morning, the both of them greeted each other when they met. Old and Young Tangs’ first scene together was the warm cooking scene between father and son. The aroma of food permeated the set as the two of them cooked a homecooked dish that tasted differnet from Boss Tang’s cooking. When the staff joked with Chris, asking him if he wasn’t going to try a little of the dish he just cooked, and Chris only said, “I think there’s no need for that.”

In the evening, once Shao Fei arrived, he joked that today he was going to earn money just lying down, not knowing that at night, he would be repeatedly thrown onto the bed by Tang Yi. When they rehearsed for that scene, they even managed to move the entire bed out of its position. (Editor’s note: Aren’t the both of you too intense?)

Both of them, as they were resting, secretly discussed who exactly made the other gay, and they kept insisting that it was the other one. Shao Fei said to Tang Yi, “My junior said you don’t discriminate between men or women in your Xing Tian Meng days?”. Tang Yi then said, “It’s just her saying that.” But Shao Fei then persisted, “Then why are you so flirty with Andy and Jin Tang?”

All Shao Fei wants is to get an answer from Tang Yi.

Day 29

Tang Yi, this hard shell, has finally opened himself to Shao Fei - As he is cooking, he still manages to confess to Officer Meng, and Officer Meng’s efforts in chasing Tang Yi has finally not gone to waste!

Aside from his confession, Tang Yi finally also initiates a kiss with Shao Fei. This kiss is finally not done in a complex scene, with a suffocating heaviness. This scene’s kiss is filled with a sweet scent. Officer Meng also returns the kiss, and this kiss was very sudden as Shao Fei actually added this kiss himself, cheekily looking at Tang Yi who was so quickly attacked (kissed) by Shao Fei.

Does everyone feel that the process of cooking the omelette rice is familiar? In “Right or Wrong” (History2), Xiao Fei used this omelette rice to capture Yi Jie and You You’s somachs and hearts, so it can be seen as the greatest weapon! Once again, Trapped also re-enaced the classic scene of squeezing tomato sauce in Right or Wrong, and in Trapped this scene also played a crucial role. Shao Fei was also humming “Love’s Omelette Rice” (one of the OST in Right or Wrong) as he was rehearsing!

Day 22

Early in the morning, Jake greeted all the crew members with a mix of determination and excitement, full of energy to begin his scheduled day of rushing, chasing, running and jumping.

As the script required it, Jake had to not only fall, but struck (against) things in the wet market, and on top of that he had to deal multiple men clad in black appearing from spot all around him. Although he was wearing protective padding under his clothes, Jake still got hurt in more than just one spot on his body.

That day, it was bustling in the market, and once (the director) yelled ‘cut’, the staff immediately went up to him with electric portable fans and cold presses.

Day 23

Yesterday was an off day for everyone, and they were all on their way to Yilan County to prepare for the long stay scheduled for the next ten or so days.

Tang Yi’s home is in Sanxing Town of Yilan, in the “San Xing Liang Yi” hostel. There were huge floor-to-ceiling windows inside the room, and in the day sunlight spilled into the room unceremoniously, while all they had to do at night was to pull open the curtains to gaze at the sky filled with stars without any other light source interference. In the front of the yard there was still a swimming pool, and they heard that before this, many advertisements and music videos were filmed here for the backdrop. On the first day they began filming in Yilan, the heavens welcomed our Boss Tang’s (Tang Yi in this case) stay with excellent weather and clear skies for miles.

Day 24

There were three floors in the hostel. The first floor was the living room and gust room, which is also Shao Fei’s room, while the room on the second floor was Tang Yi’s. The third floor was used for the crew as their makeshift makeup studio, and when any of them had a break they could head up to the balcony on the top floor to admire Yilan’s scenery.

Today is the second day of filming in the Tang house, and everyone was already familiar with their environment and were moving in and out of the house’s every corner as if they have already been living here for a while, and everything was routine and normal to them. Working together, watching the sun set together, going for meals together and eating supper, hitting mosquitos and getting rids of flies, moving items up and down - the days of filming and working were tiring, but they didn’t forget to live well.

The every day in the Tang house, the sunset was also beautiful, and even Hong Ye took out her phone to record it as she was waiting to film her scene. And the afternoon light fell onto Dao Yi’s face sideways, and it was quietly beautiful just like that.

Day 25

The scene where Shao Fei and Tang Yi were having breakfast together may seem simple, but it belies the many, tiny little details that are hidden. For example, the way the dialogue was designed, both Jake and Chris, together with director, had to put in a lot of effort during the rehearsal. Tang Yi’s straightforward and stiff personality meant that no one dared to contradict him once he made his mind up about something. Under Shao Fei’s efforts, trying to persuade Tang Yi to pass Ah De to the cops, Xing Tian Meng for the very first time handed someone over to the police to deal with. However, this time when they caught He Hang, Tang Yi said that dealing drugs and betraying the organization had to be dealt with separately. Once Tang Yi was done with punishing He Hang for his betrayal, he would pass the man over to the police.

Tang Yi was changing bit by bit. From not trusting the police to slowly being convinced to let the police take someone away, and lastly being willing to take the initiative to send the person to the police. For Shao Fei, Tang Yi learnt to compromise, and the director said that this is love. This is Tang Yi, willing to go against his own principles for the other person, and this is the beauty in the power of love.

There is a huge mirror in the threshold into the house, and Jack would often stop there and take photos for a long time before he was willing to leave.

History3: Trapped - Diary Logbook

Hey guys! Don’t know if you’ve seen this floating around recently, but anyway, if any of you bought the History Pass memberships, you’ll probably know about this one. For those who bought silver and gold cards (I do not think anyone here bought the gold card, including myself LMAO it’s like 300+ USD excluding shipping idek what to say), it comes with the above diary logbook - It’s not for sale currently and I don’t think it’ll actually ever be for sale (it’s a history pass perk). 

In any case, what the diary logbook is about: It documents like moments in the filming process from Day 1 to Day 69, and has unreleased photos from the set

This book is GORGEOUS I love the white background and muted colours it’s almost like a travelogue

The book will only reach me end of the month so that’s when translations will begin (yes yes I know there’s still the Trapped novel!!! don’t worry it’ll go hand in hand and like i said the logbook doesn’t have a huge chunk of text so it won’t take too long and there shouldn’t be any more delays)

Day 30

In the days when they were filming at the mansion in Yi Lan (the house that Tang Yi lives in), their days were filled almost entirely with kissing scenes, and today’s kissing scene is our FeiTang CP’s usual - The kisses are both angsty and really leaves an impression on everyone’s minds.

This is the first scene after dinner, and from dinner onwards both Chris and Jake, together with the director, were practicing how to portray the emotions of the scene properly behind closed doors, and even when they got to the shooting location, the atmosphere was very somber. Both Chris and Jake kissed each other repeatedly, their shirts were ripped apart one time after another, and when Director Lee shouted ‘cut’, she would move from behind the screens and walk into the room quietly to give both of them hugs. Other crew members would also come in to help re-attach the mics, sew on the buttons of the shirts again and help Chris and Jake to wipe their tears away and freshen their makeup. Everything happened quietly. And right before each shout of ‘action’, Chris and Jake would hug each other, patting each other on their backs, and tell each other “you can do this!”

Until they heard the director shout, “alright, let’s move on to the next scene”, Chris and Jake’s tearful expressions morphed into smiles and laughs, and seated on the floor, they helped each other to wipe their tears away, and even some saliva as well.

OMG THIS WAS SUCH A GEM?!!!! From the press con in the beginning Chris and Jake did say that everyday they would hug each other and mentally be prepared for their scenes and the filming, but to see it in THIS scene? That they were helping each other to wipe away tears? And stuff? And also from the BTS videos we do see Jake trying to comfort Chris who was unable to stop crying after a take during this scene, but also to know that they were comforting each other and encouraging one another - Stebeee here is crying here too.

Soooo yeah the length looks like it’s about that, so it won’t be too hard to translate it quickly. Problem is when I’ll get the book, will do something similar to what Wei and I did for the Trapped novel.

This is all I need to say:

Day 18

In the confrontational scene between Hong Ye and Ah De, the most important props were red wine and cheese. The scent of Blue Cheese saturated the air and everyone jokingly said that they thought someone stepped on something (foul). Hong Ye really worked hard eating cheese the whole morning, and when they took a break for food, Diane said that her stomach is all filled with cheese, there’s no more space for rice!

In the few scenes in the morning, Ding Chun Cheng (who plays Dao Yi) didn’t have any lines, and the challenging part was how to perfectly act out his emotions without any lines. The truth of it was that Ding Chun Cheng already looks like a piece of art just quietly sitting there, and Diane joked, “Just now I accidentally met his eyes and I was so nervous that I forgot my lines”. From this we can see that we really should not make light of the amount of charisma Ding Chun Cheng has.

And while today was Hong Ye’s first day of filming, it was also the day she had to cry the most, and Hong Ye said, “Gu Dao Yi, the person who hurt me the deepest, is actually you! It’s me who got used to it, who got used to you protecting me and this habit turned into liking you”. 

During the filming, the director continuously tried to guide Diane through her emotions, so that she could better express the pain and hurt in Hong Ye’s heart. In the end, Hong Ye cried so well that even I as the editor was saddened, and the camera guys at the side also said that the scene was very heart-wrenching.

Steven Chiang came to visit the set! When Steven was filming for Right or Wrong, Diane also visited him on his set, and on that Steven was actually filming his bed scenes. This time, it’s Steven’s turn to visit, and Diane is filming a very important emotional scene. Both filming for the both of them required a lot of thinking to grasp the character and scene, and from History2: Right of Wrong to History3: Trapped, we can see that both of their relationships with the director are very good, and not only do they joke around and chat, but will also exchange thoughts on acting.

Day 19

It’s here!!! The much anticipated Feitang CP intimate scene is finally here! (Make some noise~)

In order to take back the lead on Tang Yi, Shao Fei already made his stand to Vixen Ah De early in the morning, saying “Today I’m going to make out with Tang Yi, bye!” Shao Fei obviously wants to piss off poor Ah De.

On this day of filming, the scene where Tang Yi presses Shao Fei to the wall really scared Officer Meng. When Chris, who’s so much taller than him, pressed him to the wall, all Officer Meng could think at that point was, “I’m done for! I’m about to be attacked!”

Jake said that he was really stunned to his soul, and this was as expected of Tang Yi - his power and aura was so strong, Shao Fei you’ve got to work harder! He definitely can’t lose on his spirit, although that is inevitable considering that the person he loves just had to be a gang leader.

And today’s focus was the main CP’s first intimate scene. From the very first take, Jake and Chris were half naked and showing their torsos until the very end. During the filming process both Jake and Chris would exercise every time they could, so that they could present their best selves to the camera. As for how it ends, everyone please go and watch <<Trapped>> to find out!

Day 20

Team Three’s two dazed and confused members are usually inseparable when they work, and even when they’re dismissed from work they’re still glued to one another, bantering during dinner and making so much noise incessantly.

During one of the scenes where the both of them are seated at the dining table and snatching the meal bento from each other, although in the show the only cut shown was the both of them snatching food and insulting one another, but the director didn’t shout ‘cut’ for a long time, letting the both of them continue to bicker with each other and improvise their lines. Unexpectedly, Zhao Zi began to develop another storyline as he suddenly asked, “How were you taught at home? Don’t tell me the Meng Family’s standards are only just like that?”

Shao Fei of course gave as good as he got, and since the director didn’t shout ‘cut’, he would act with Zhao Zi until the end. “Don’t you speak of my family! I told you not to say that!”

And then Zhao Zi asked again, “Oh that’s right! You’ve never talked about your family, what do your dad and mom do?”

At the sudden turn of script, as the both of them started to delve into each of their character’s backgrounds, Shao Fei replied, “They’re both dead, are you happy now?”

The mystery of their births made everyone on set have to control their laughter, and that was really tough.

After the director shouted ‘cut’, the both of them still continued to discuss their birth, and when they were both studying their characters, the character backgrounds were designed for Shao Fei and Zhao Zi to both have their parents dead, and for both of them to have grown up under the care of their grandparents. With such similar backgrounds, no wonder Zhao Zi and Shao Fei are the best partners, from police academy all the way to now!

Day 21

You want me, Officer Meng, to accompany you to shop? And I’ve still got to carry your big and small bags, isn’t this such a waste of talent on a small matter?!

Jake and Diane originally were classmates from Q Place, but this is the first time they’re working together on a show, and both of them said that acting with each other was really easy and a relaxing experience, with the both of them feeling really comfortable with each other. Their very first show together they are enemies, and they have to argue and bicker with one another noisily in the department store. Hong ye even helped Shao Fei to pick out a pig-print pair of underwear in a lingerie store. There’s a huge story behind this pair of underwear - and the director agreed that Shao Fei should be wearing this kind of underwear! Afterwards, the wardrobe department really bought this underwear, hoping that they would be able to use it during the scenes at the back, even though they ended up not using it.

Day 14

Under the dim lighting of the bar, everyone was in very different conditions.

Let’s first talk about the battle between Officer Meng and Vixen No. 2. That day, Officer Meng and Yu Qi wore the pink couple outfit together, and Vixen No. 2 Andy was wearing a shirt that had a really open, wide collar, and the material of the shirt was so thin that it was almost invisible, showing so much skin. When Officer Meng saw that, he exclaimed, “Your entire body is going to (burst) out already!” Aside from losing on the outfit, Andy also was a step quicker than Officer Meng, as he managed to fully kiss Tang Yi. Even though the camera wasn’t on them, both tang Yi and Andy were already kissing each other secretly.

When Officer Meng was battling the vixen, everyone else from Team Three was busy too! Jun Wei is actually a professional bartender in real life, and so he acted his part out smoothly and easily. Ah Zhi who was undercover as a janitor, was found squatting in a corner, as if practicing being left out from the rest of the group. The hair stylist chose a really cute/dumb and loud hair style for Yu Qi.

Naughty Zhao Zi was very bored while waiting for his turn to film, so he secretly braided the strands from a draping curtain, and thought no one would notice. Who knew that when Zhao Zi was finally filming, that those very curtains would be in shot! In the end, ZGC, who plays Andy, and some other staff had to spend a lot of time unfastening the braids, and while they were doing that they were mumbling to themselves, who was the culprit who did this?!

Day 15

Trapped’s lucky item: Tang Yuan (Riceball)

Director Gia’s beloved dog has accompanied everyone since the pre-production and casting days. Occasionally, she will come to the set and walk around, and as a director’s dog, to be able to act cute the moment the camera is on her is a basic skill. Everyone cannot help but caress and touch her, and even Tang Yi’s teenage-girl heart was set off (which I guess to mean that Chris was cooing at Riceball, hugging her and basically being all sparkly)

Day 16

Love is the greatest! Today is 24 November, voting day, and everyone went to vote before coming to work!

“The bigger the wish, the larger the effort needed to make that wish come true.” Perhaps it was the voting results that allowed reality to slap us hard in the face - a lot of people were disappointed, upset and furious. When everyone was threatening to migrate, to escape and flee (from Taiwan), everyone on set was seemingly calm and continued to work. Because we knew, this wish was really huge and the world wasn’t going to change just because we changed a status or photo on Facebook There was no time to be depressed and discouraged. We returned to our work stations and continue to work on making our wish come true.

◆ [Note: This is with regards to the Taiwan elections last year when the Democratic Progressive Party (DPP) lost by a pretty huge margin to the Nationalist Party or Kuomintang (KMT) - They lost 7 out of the 13 cities and counties they already had and now control only 6 out of 22 cities and counties in Taiwan]

Day 17

After they finished the previous scene in Team Three’s office, the youngest out of the four main leads, Kenny, spent a whole three hours getting into the right emotional state for his next scene - a crying scene.

From the moment he got on the car until dinner, Kenny had his earphones on and didn’t say a word. Even when he met his other half, Jack, he was expressionless as well. After, Kenny said that it was tough and painful for him to be that quiet too. For example, during dinner, everyone saw the very interesting names a female staff member put on the dishes and were talking about it. Kenny, who usually likes to talk shit with everyone, also wanted to participate in the conversation but at that time he really didn’t have the mood to talk. All he could do is complain after, “If it’s Triple Delight Fried Rice then just call it Tripled Delight Fried Rice! Why did she write Supernatural Fried Rice...”

And when Zhao Zi’s little world crumbled into pieces, it was Jack’s kiss that introduced Zhao Zi to another world (hehe)

Compared to crying scenes, Kenny was less nervous with the kissing scenes. Instead, it was Andy who was a little uneasy and awkward, not knowing what kissing Kenny would be like. Moreover, earlier when Kenny was preparing for the crying scene, he ignored Andy, so Andy was at a loss of what to do too. Luckily, the more they kissed, the better the kisses became, and they kissed until they were used to it, until they could kiss anytime.

Day 1

On the very first day of filming, the season for the scene they were filming was actually “Just Turning to Winter”, but the temperature on that day rose to 29 degrees Celcius. All the crew members and staff were wearing sleeveless, but the cast had to wear winter coats or long-sleeved shirts. The person who wore the most was Tang Yi, who had a turtleneck on with a suit jacket over, but he didn’t sweat all that much. Instead,  Ah De who was wearing the thinnest layer of clothes compared to the rest of the cast, dressed in a dress shirt and suit jacket, perspired so much into his shirt that when he took it off, the wardrobe department went, “This shirt is way too wet!”

Officer Meng’s filming schedule on this day began from 10am in the morning and he from then until 6pm, he was eating from morning till night, from the moment he began work until he ended his schedule. He ate two big packets of rice, drank a total of 4000cc of coke, and the moment Jake eats spicy food he’ll start to break out in a lot of sweat, and his face gets really red. So when the director finally shouted ‘cut’, the staff would immediately pass him a plastic bag so he can spit out the spicy chicken dish he’s eating in his mouth.

Day 2

Tang Yi and Chen Wen Hao’s first meeting, is also Chris and Jia Kui’s second time working together.

Both of them worked together the first time on a movie, and at that time Jia Kui’s role was the theatre teacher in the movie. Early in the morning, after Chris was done with makeup, he sat in a corner on set with the script in hand, and it was obvious that he felt really contradictory and trouble, as Jia Kui is Chris’ mentor in real life, but Chen Wen Hao is Tang Yi’s enemy, the target of his revenge.

In the process of them acting out their scenes together, the director hoped that Tang Yi can be more ruthless to Chen Wen Hao, but Tang Yi’s character is both steady and calm, so how should Chris act out a cold person’s rage and ruthlessness? With the cameras turned away from, Jia Kui added to the severity and tone of some lines so as to help Chris bring out that anger. Afterwards, Jia Kui also said that the role of Tang Yi is really not easy to act out. He’s a really young gang leader, so in his eyes, the rage and hate must be accompanied by a bit of childishness or youth considering his age, and this is something really hard to experience in most people’s real lives.

Day 3

Today is Zhao Zi’s first day of filming, and while he was waiting for his scenes and feeling bored, he began to act as the suit store’s staff. He started to sell the and promote the suits, and other than the suits, he also simultaneously promoted the ties, the belts and even shoes! On his own, words kept falling smoothly out of his mouth without stopping, and Shao Fei who was standing nearby could only look at him with wide, stunned eyes (if you want to see Shao Fei’s dumbfounded look, do remember to look at the behind the scenes from the DVD). Finally, Shao Fei said, “If you buy a pair of shoes you can get Zhao Zi for free, hurry come and take Zhao Zi away, Team Three can’t stand him anymore!”

The young boss Tang was tired, and he decided to sleep in his own store for just a little. Just a little bit would be good, Shao Fei and Ah De, the both of you help me to keep a look out, and when the director comes over, remember to wake me up!

Day 4

Team Three’s office in the show is actually the real LINE TV (Choco) office, and it’s filled with a contemporary vibe and has a modern look to it. This environment made Team Three’s atmosphere even more lively.

The very first Team Three scene, the director wanted to use a one-shot for it, and so the very first time the team gathered for their scene they already had to be tested for their chemistry and teamwork. Aside from the chemistry between the actors, this also was a test for the staff, the crew members, the sound crew as they also had to follow the actors in this single shot. Everyone still remembered that when the got to the 20th take, everyone’s lines were smooth, their acting was on point as well, and their blocking was correct as well. The director and all the staff were behind the monitors looking really focused and tensed, and just as everyone thought they were going to success, Ah Zhi forgot his very last line.

Everyone ended finishing on the 27th take.

Day 5

After they finished filming the scene with Team Three and Shao Fei getting into trouble, where Captain Shi was yelling at him, the director told Shao Fei that she wanted to add another scene where he would sit by the window and reminisce about Li Zhen Jie, and continuing with the emotions that Jake displayed as Shao Fei in the previous scene… Everyone in Team Three all think that Shao Fei is holding too long onto a meaningless case, and if he there was some progress with the case, that would be one thing, but not only did Shao Fei not find any clues at all he’s going around getting into trouble all the time. If Li Zhen Jie really was here, then it wouldn’t be like this now… Shao Fei really really misses Li Zhen Jie, and rather than say that the director added this scene at the last minute, it was more that she deliberately didn’t tell Jake that she was adding this scene.

When they were filming, the director used the megaphone to play the melody from the music box and occasionally said some things to provoke Jake’s emotions. It was only after when Jake was holding his own phone and sliding through his mom’s Facebook, and no one expecting Jake to begin crying right here. Even after the director shouted ‘cut’, he was unable to stop sobbing, until she walked over to pat him on the back lightly. Even Jake himself didn’t think he would be able to cry out like this so quickly.

◆ [Note: During one of the variety shows, Jake did mention that his only regret of sorts is not being able to spend more time with his family. And during one of the Instagram Lives I think the director and Jake also did talk about this take where Jake cried by the window, but they chose the cut where he didn’t cry for the show because it felt more appropriate.]

Day 6

The weather on this day wasn’t very clear, and when they filmed to about 3-4pm in the afternoon, the daylight was almost gone. Coincidentally, the location they were filming at was filled with many floor-to-ceiling windows, and the director joked, “Why did the production team switch off the lights at 3pm? Did they forget to ensure that the sun would keep on shining (for the duration of the filming)?” Everyone on set couldn’t help but laugh, and finally, before the sun finished work for the day, the crew and cast managed to finish filming successfully too.

◆ [Note: The phrase they used was 太陽通告 and 通告 is an industry term to describe a period of time (for e.g. for the duration of an event or a broadcasted show) that they’ll hire celebrities for so in this case the ‘celebrity’ they were gonna hire for the filming was the sun but because it was so cloudy, the sun obviously didn’t hang around]

Day 7

On this day, for both Shao Fei and Little Tang Yi, their feelings were complicated - This was the day that Shao Fei discovered the truth of Tang Yi’s past when he was little.

Before he went to meet his lover’s adoptive father, of course Shao Fei had to freshen up his look and shave off his stubble, so that he would leave a good impression! At night, the filming for the last scene of the day began. Before they started the filming, the director hoped that Tang Yi’s adoptive dad would do his best to guide Little Tang Yi’s emotions, because the intensity of this scene would properly explain why Tang Yi’s felt so much for Tang Guo Dong, so that everyone could feel more of the warmth and love Tang Guo Dong brought Tang Yi.

After much pulling and conflict, a heavy slap across Little Tang Yi’s face sounded, and the silence on set amplified the sound of that slap endlessly. The director and the staff were all stunned and dumbfounded, and the moment she shouted ‘cut’, Little Tang Yi immediately began to cry. The director rushed into the room immediately, and on every staff and crew member’s face there was shock, while the adoptive dad sat silently on the sofa with his head down, filled with guilt...

The crew’s toys - In front of the director’s monitor, there’s always a few eye-catching little toys and according to the director, the crew gifted the toys to the director for stress-relief, which toy do you think is the director’s favourite?

Day 8 

Team Three’s toilet was actually a department store’s toilet. Early in the morning, Zhao Zi visited the location and began to flirt with an older auntie who just arrived for work. The auntie asked, “Are you Zhao You Ting! You must be Zhao You Ting~” And even though Zhao Zi was quick to deny it, the auntie didn’t seem to hear him and believed that the handsome guy before her was Zhao You Ting himself.

Actually, the above story was recounted by Zhao Zi himself and no one actually saw the auntie. Zhao Zi often tries to fool them with these stories with a somber face, and as for how much we can all believe in Zhao Zi’s story, the editor of this book has his/her own reserves about it. Still, after the auntie said that Zhao Zi looked like Zhao You Ting, Zhao Zi’s acting skills immediately levelled up, so regardless of whether the story was real or not, we thank this legendary auntie.

Day 9

After this hug, will you let me call you ‘dad’?

When the editor’s (of this book) friend came out to his mother, he told his mom, “I’m sorry that this may disappoint you, and I don’t dare to expect your blessings, I just hope that you can understand me.” 

And via the chat app, his mother only replied, “If your other half is a good kid, I will give you my blessings.”

Many same-sex couples do not dare to tell their elders the truth, and they definitely do not even think about getting their elders’ blessings, all they hope is that they will not be disliked. This is what they hope, facing society, and more importantly, when they face their beloved families. When Chen Wen Hao and Shao Fei met, Chen Wen Hao gave him a hug, and this hug, must’ve carried blessings (from Chen Wen Hao), that he could not say.

No worries, father-in-law, Officer Meng will take care of everything. (He pats at his chest)

The interactions between Chen Wen Hao and Tang Guo Dong can be quite intimate (suggesting that they may have a relationship more than just friends, but not really) On that day, the fighting scene was so intense that even the police sent out a team to observe what was going on.
