Not plural myself but Im kinda curious about something: for systems that share memories, is it possible to play games with one another? 🤔 I have chess in my head right now but just about anything turn based would work I guess. I feel like head mates who share memories would also remember each others’ strategy, which Im curious if it would make the game boring or add layers to it somehow. (maybe you could put it up to a poll?)

We've played chess before. It's fun but weird.

You need to make the best move but if you plan too far ahead then the opponent knows all your plans.

You'd probably be better off with games with some random elements but no hidden information to make long-term strategies too difficult.

One game that worked pretty well for us is called Dice Forge.

There are strategic elements but the randomness of the dice throws a wrench into any ideas of planning too far ahead.

Co-op games are really ideal though.

We used part of our stimulus to stimulate some board game companies. We bought Dice Forge and some fancy upgrades to Wingsapan.

Dice Forge is a great dice-building game for 2-4 players. You’ll be rolling dice to gain resources that pay for cards and upgraded dice faces that help you get more resources and points and so on.

The best part is that you roll your dice on every player’s turn. Whatever they land on you get, so you’re always getting stuff! It’s the board game version of all-marshmallow Luck Charms. Yellow Gold! Blue Moons! Red Somethings! Green Points! 

With gold you can buy new die faces and immediately upgrade them. They swap off like Lego pieces, so by the end of the game, your dice could be gaining you lots of points, gold, and gems.

You can use the blue and red gems to buy cards that give you one-time gains, ongoing powers, and points. There are alternate cards, so you can add some variety to the games as well by changing them up.

Dice Forge looks beautiful and has excellent storage (for those of us who appreciate that). They really did a nice job with the overall production. It’s fun and fast. You’re always getting cool stuff. You’re at the mercy of the dice, but you can try to up your odds by getting better die faces. And since you get to roll them so often, it seems to even out.

Playing Dice Forge!

We just got a subscription to Boardgame Arena today. The subscription allows you to play locally in "hotseat mode."

My host and I played a couple games of Dice Forge, and it was a blast.

Dice Forge is a game where you have a pair of two six-sided dice that you can upgrade. Every roll gives you different resources. The game ends after 9 turns, and whoever has the most victory points at the end of the game wins.

Anyway, the game is perfect for systems because there's no hidden information, it's not completely random and requires strategy, but it's also based on just enough luck that you can't take too much advantage of mind-reading like you might in something like chess.

It was really fun to get to play against my host in something for once! With all the games we've played in the past being co-op, the experience of competing with headmate, is completely new and a little alien to me. But I like it!

I lost the first game, but on the second round, I destroyed him, 145 to 110! It was amazing!😁

(One problem we did run into was that when my host hovered over the cursor over cards, it would reveal what they did, but it never did this on my turns, so we had to keep a card guide open in another tab so I could find what the cards did on my turns.)

Kinks aside, if anyone has $5 to spare for a month's subscription, (or $30 for a year,) it's a fun way to kill time with headmates.

Alright, you liking pineapple on pizza was the last straw. You and your host can no longer stand arguing with each other like an old couple anymore, and you both decide to settle your differences once and for all in a duel. The winner gets to decide everything for 1 month (and gets bragging rights lol). What kind of duel (e.g. video game, chess, who can jump highest, best at spelling etc.) will you have? (this is a joke ask, not meant as an offense. Skip if you don't want to play along.)

Okay, but... Hmm... It needs to have no hidden information, because duh. It needs to have randomness or he'll know everything I'm going to do before I do it, which just seems unfair. Has anyone ever heard of a game called Dice Forge? It's a game where you build and upgrade your own dice, and try to get the most points by the end of the game.

It seems like a really fun game to play together as a system.

No. Too slow. This is a Duel. We need something pumping and active like... Beat Saber! Yes! We pick a song, and each try to get the highest score.

Wait, isn't whoever plays second going to be adapted to the moves, giving them an unfair advantage?

Can you compare scores from different songs?

I guess Tetris is an option. But my host scares me. I've seen him play Master Mode in Tetris Effect, and I don't even want to try that.

If nothing else, we could always flip a coin.
