Keep it greasy, Cultists! 🎲 ☠️ (from Bravest Warriors #10, by Ryan Pequin)
I couldn’t let Goblin Week go by without contributing something. Here’s Sophia, the Dice Cult Goblin, offering you one of his dice, to replace the one that fell under the couch and into the Nether Realms.
Finally! Dungeon Degenerates makes its premiere appearance at the Dice Cult table. There's a lot of rules to absorb but it's well worth the effort, for a thoroughly satisfying and tough adventure through the weird world of Wurstreich.
'In Sickest Witch, you and your friends will isolate enemies and take turns attacking until you can harvest a body part. Hands, hearts, livers -- witches imbue them with magic to make themselves more powerful.' Distinctive artwork, a theme outside of the generic tropes, and lots of dice? This game looks like it's right up my alley. If you're familiar with the 'Beneath' RPG, this is by the same creator, Justin Sirois of @severed_books . https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/justinsirois/sickest-witch
Cultists, what's your favourite game about dumpster-diving and dead opossum worship? Mine would definitely have to be Trash Lords, by Craft Fair Games (@craftfairgames) . Trash Lords is a press-your-luck, hand management game, in which players skitch from dumpster to dumpster, gathering smokes, booze, snax and dope, in order to summon the Trash Lord and be anointed the one true glorious Trash Child. Not only is the game extremely simple to teach and learn, it's also fun, due to the colourful language used (and well-placed Repo Man references) in the instruction sheets. It is also strikingly attractive, with character portraits by Ryan Sheffield (@junkfiction) and its high contrast monochromatic design is a welcome change from the ubiquitous neon-blue glow of sci-fantasy games and verdant rolling fields of Euros. 🎲☠️
Game 5 of Charterstone (no spoilers!) - I am really enjoying this legacy worker placement game from @jameystegmaier. There's something about the strategy aspect that reminds me of SeaFall, in that if I stick with one goal in mind and not get distracted, I'll do okay. I probably won't win, because I never do, but at least I'm having a good time. 🎲☠️
Another great D&D session, the second in our Lost Mines of Phandelver chapter. This time, we spent the majority of our time in Phandalin, getting paid and getting information, and building our characters. We're only 2nd level but just as we were finishing up, a random encounter threw an owlbear at us! We managed to deal some major damage to it, though, and our Dragonborn barbarian, Tok, gained another trophy. 🎲☠️
Taking advantage of the long weekend, we spent our Sunday the best way possible - playing games. 🎲 Clockwise from top-left: cryptic notes taken during Pandemic Legacy Season 2, cracking the code in Visitor in Blackwood Grove, struggling up the Mountains of Madness, and tending the garden in Charterstone. ☠️
