Things I noticed while re-reading The Isle of the Lost for the third time

"Go away" is how people traditionally greet guests on the Isle.

At Carlos's party, there is "an overly enthusiastic pirate swinging from the chandelier", which could only be our dear Harry Hook.

Diego de Vil (Carlos's cousin) is the lead singer in a band called the Bad Apples, which play evil parodies of 2010s pop songs, such as "Call Me Never".

My Version of Frederique "Freddie" Facilier!

And other stuff about the Faciliers!

The oldest child and daughter of the Facilier offspring (by a few months).

While Freddie doesn't care or mind, don't bring up the fact that she and Uma favor one another in front of Uma (they're 92% sure that they're sisters, and for Uma, that'd mean both of her parents weren't great and she doesn't want to have to process that).

She, Uma, and Celia are all half-sisters; different moms but share the same father. Don't refer to them as half-sisters though.

If I ever bother including Felix, he's the youngest, by yet another woman.

While Uma and Freddie may not be particularly close in the beginning, whenever Freddie needs a favor, her attention, or if she just wants to piss her off, she calls Uma, "Sis". ("Hey, Sis–" "Girl, fuck you–"). Still, Uma's sure to have the Lost Revenge keep an eye (from a distance) on Freddie and Celia every once in a while.

Freddie and Celia get along fine, despite the tiny bit of resentment Freddie has against Celia since she's "the favorite" (When Freddie and Uma were younger, Dr. Facilier spent most of time attempting to claim as much power on the Isle as possible with his many business ventures. Eventually, he realized that his life in this prison was better than anything waiting for him on "the other side", and tried to make amends with his girls. Only baby Celia took him on his offer earnestly.). Celia's usually the one to reach out first. The two spend most of their time either working at their father's shop, or his arcade, or when Freddie gets roped into Celia's schemes.

Despite Uma's attempts to be distant with Celia, the two get along very well. Uma's only got a problem if she's conning her crew mates or the customers when Uma's working because then it's Uma's problem.

Bisexual, and no one batted an eye. She hasn't really had any experience with relationships, she's just aware of what she's attracted to from small little crushes she had on various peers and Isle residents.

Her love for music started with her mother, Loraine, who loved to sing in her spare time. She always wanted to be a singer, but unfortunately found herself with the wrong crowd and was arrested for aiding and abetting a heist at a jewelry store.

Loraine and Freddie are on pretty good terms. They have their occasional spats, but the two do just fine in Loraine's small flat downtown.

Loraine would teach her guitar and piano, leaving Freddie to pick up on songwriting and producing with her own merit from whatever laptop she managed to steal from her own father's store.

Her favorite genres are jazz, soul, and R&B. She's not opposed to rock, pop, hip-hop, or really anything tbh.

Had it not been for Diego's huge ego and other creative differences the two might have, Freddie would consider joining The Rotten Apples. Little does she know that Diego would fold immediately to her whim, to the point where he'd almost consider renaming the band in her honor if she'd ask

Dry humor, usually deadpan, and sarcastic to boot, Freddie comes off very cold and uncaring at first. But once/if you get to know her, she's much more empathetic, emotional, and sentimental than she lets on. That doesn't mean she's any less snarky however.

While Freddie is rather lax and seemingly low-key than Celia or her father, she too occasionally loves a good scheme and can be every bit as mischievous with mostly harmless pranks and petty thievery.

She's somewhat materialistic and money hungry, not to the same extent as Dr. Facilier or even Loraine, but if she has her eye on something and it's an easy grab, consider it hers.

Despite her and her family's seemingly genetic deceptive dispositions, she hates being lied to "when it counts" and is extremely loyal to a select few. Don't burn that bridge, because she will detonate the rubble and any other chance of redemption.

Her closest friend on the Isle is none other than CJ Hook herself. A nine year old Freddie would meet an eight year old CJ as she forced herself inside her dad's shop minutes before closing in an attempt to hide from a not-so-infamously known gang that she stole from. Freddie lied in CJ's favor, but the only thing stopping them from looting and arson was Dr. Facilier with Captain Hook and his crew once they caught word of the pursuit. The two have been inseparable ever since, and continuously laugh about it to this day.

Together, the pair's camaraderie and coordination rivals that of their siblings Uma and Harry, but the two aren't looking for an entire crew to manage (neither are of them are considered a people person). They're completely fine and capable as a duo (and it's not like they have crushes on each other or anything). CJ usually takes charge.

While most other magic capable VKs are itching to test their abilities outside of the barrier, Freddie is secretly scared of whatever power she, her father, and Celia might have. The stories of her father's time in "the other side" are a recurring nightmare of hers, and Freddie isn't quite sure if that's all that they are. Once she gets over her fears and gets the hang of it (and realizes that by technicality, nothing in the Magic Law Rights prevents her from practicing since Voodoo is a religion), she's a natural but still very cautious.

Even so, she's still familiar enough with Tarot card readings and Voodoo as a whole to weaponize and utilize it in an attempt to free the barrier once she's picked among the second batch of VKs for Ben's Villain Kid Relocation Initiative.

She has a bit of stage fright, which is why Uma gets The Rotten Apples to perform alongside her at Uma's birthday party. Freddie manages to get over this while in Auradon thanks to Princess Trinity of Maldonia.

Fluent in Creole French thanks to both of her parents insisting she learn the language and culture.

It was Audrey's fault, really. The princess of roses shouldn't have been so eager to leave her new friend alone, but she had spent so long without the friends she already had that it happened without much of a thought. He was tall, and lanky, and laughing with two other kids when their eyes met for a second. All she could think of was how he looked like a dog, in a way. Shaggy damp black and white hair, and chocolate eyes with flecks of gold in them. He smirked, like her staring was brought on because of his looks and she simply turned her nose up at him and walked the other way.
