i love jealous ex diego so much. he sees johnny getting closer with gyro and he can’t help but seethe and wish that were him.

there was always rivalry between them that kept them from fully becoming something, and even now diego feels he will never get the chance with johnny again.

diego who is still pining over his childhood crush and situationship and johnny who has moved on especially after 3 years of not being in contact and learning how to be self reliant.

diego reminds johnny of his past and as much as he misses him he doesn’t want to go back to that life or be reminded of it. he looks toward the future, i.e. gyro.

gyro who notices the tension and brought it up once to johnny when they were drunk, but after getting yelled at he decided to never bring it up again. some things were better for him to not know. some things were better left unspoken.
