Every summer, Vienna’s Donauinsel (Danube Island) hosts Europe’s largest free festival, which I wasn’t going to miss out on. I ended up getting a bit over keen and going to all three days: with my flatmates on the Friday, where we missed Taio Cruz and Andreas Bourani because we didn’t really believe they could actually be at this free festival we’d randomly heard about; then I met up with some of the Eurovision volunteers on the Saturday where we saw Natalie Imbruglia and Anastasia; and on Sunday I met up with my flatmates again to watch Madcon. As someone who misjudged the train stops and ended up walking a whole hour and the entire length of the festival to meet people, I can confirm it was a massive event with lots of stalls, bars and attractions. I also managed to collect a freshers-fair-worthy quantity of freebees. Something for everyone.
