Some discussions don’t end in agreement, but they reveal how perspectives differ and how perceptions can sometimes overlap more than facts. In the end, staying calm at the point of disagreement is one of the highest forms of awareness.

The rich see it as a destination, the poor see it as desolation, poets write of it as the distant horizon, while wanderers hold it as their homeland.

Two people looked out one window.
One saw the rain and the mud.
The other saw green leaves,
Spring and blue skies.
Two people were looking through the same window…💚
Slide 1: “Back when I was working on the Aro Culture comics -”
Celia is shown sitting at her table, typing furiously on her laptop with clacking sounds. A little popup from the screen shows her working on a google document, typing out “aro culture is …”
Slide 2: “-I asked for some submissions about what you all thought Aro Culture was.”
A flashback to when Celia first asked for submissions. Her hands hold her phone as she creates an instagram story asking for input.
Slide 3: “People said Aro Culture was having a different perspective on love (romantic, and otherwise) that’s impossible to explain to anyone else. And that it’s kind of lonely because of it.”
Some drawings of people’s submissions are depicted as floating “cards” with rounded edges, against a green background. Some of the submissions say
‘A different perspective on things like love and romance’; ‘really valuing friendship and other non-romantic bonds’; and ‘I’ve never thought I needed a partner to be happy, just …’
Slide 4: Celia speaks to the viewer “That … hit me pretty deep. Until I realized I was Aro, I couldn’t describe how DIFFERENT I felt when it came to forming bonds”
Slide 5: She stares out at a swirling planet (referencing the one she originally drew in Aro Culture), floating against a deep green universe. “I think being unable to fall in love romatnically makes me see the world differently -”
Slide 6: “-especially people.”
Celia is shown staring at a group of other people, who are hanging out. A divide in background colour is used between her and the rest.
“Romantic attraction changes your perception of people, and maybe how you value people in your life.”
Slide 7: Celia says, “So without it, to me people are just … people. All the same, yet individually each is so different.”
Slide 8: She stares out at the background of space, depicted in deep greens. “I can’t imagine forming a bond with someone based on romantic attraction, so for me bonds are more complicated.”
Slide 9: She crosses her arms and says, “I’ve got a lot of feelings on the subject, which are too long to put into this account.”
Slide 10: Celia winks now at the viewer, “So, I’ve got some exciting news …”
Slide 11: Title card from the original announcement on Instagram. Text reads “I made a Tumblr!” with Celia drawn in a Chibi form exclaiming excitedly, her arms raised. There is a note written telling the user to swipe to see the following slides, but as the author I will note that the announcements mainly pertained to how I will run the instagram account in the future and about What is Love, so I will not be posting them here.]
I’ve come to realize that no matter how much I re-outline my book, there’s always going to be more ideas that I never thought of when I first started writing my book, but are now here and want to be heard as much as the original ideas wanted to be heard as well. So now I’m adding smaller chapters in Elder Youth, in Axel’s (the main love interest) perspective which is making the story seem so much better and yet I never thought to do this until now.
So now I have a question for anyone who reads this - what are your thoughts on books that switch perspectives throughout the book?
Living Authentically in a World Set to the Wrong Frequency
Listening to the world like it's on another channel, I realized it's not just me listening differently, it's me living differently. What if the world needs my frequency, too, even if I need subtitles?
