Nacht: Alright, our monthly report has started. Does anyone want to begin?
Rook, barely awake: Well, N has gotten sick and thanks to his magic, it began to spread like wildfire. I was the only one not affected.
Langris: David nearly sold our souls to a Devil for a gamble. I have yet to forgive him.
Kuna: Sol got drunk and began to talk shit for the entire night about every man in existance. The only time I wanted to go to sleep early.
Digit: Xerx yelled at Captain Kaiser for getting demoted and almost killed me...
Kirsch: Since my Captain was mostly asleep, I had to go and do most of her work... again.
Randall: I had to stop the Vermillion Family from fighting
Nacht: Noelle set the base on fire since she wanted to cook something, Luck tripped on Vanessa's bottles and set the curtains on fire and Henry got sick and we had to navigate a maze. How about you, Barren?
Barren Crown, the newest Vice Captain of The Silver Eagles:... are you guys okay?
“Ugh, why do I have to do all this work?!” Both of Rades’ bright blue eyes narrowed at the mountains of rubble he was ordered to clean up. The dread of even beginning the task felt unbearable at that moment, let alone actually clearing the whole area.
Digit put a hand on his shoulder in an attempt to comfort him, but Rades just shoved it away. “The kingdom needs as many people as possible to help clean up the mess the Eye of the Midnight Sun caused. We’re not the only magic knights assigned with this duty.”
“Come on, anyone can do this! We should all be capturing criminals now like we always do! Why can’t I go hunt down the bastards in that group instead?!” Rades knew better than to scratch his head when it wasn’t even itching, since his scalp was still recovering from when he first gained the habit, but he couldn’t help himself with all the frustration he felt at the moment.
“All of the remaining members who orchestrated this plot have either fled the country or already been arrested.” Kaiser stroked his mustache as he looked down at the newspaper he was holding. “In fact, apparently the one completely behind it all is standing trial right now.” He handed the paper to Rades.
Rades stared at the front page. Right in the middle of it was just a drawing of some teenager, albeit a sparkly depiction of such. Could someone like him really be the mastermind behind this whole plot?
“Wait, I’ve met this guy before!” Digit leaned in close to Rades to get a better look at the picture. “He’s actually the one that freed me from the Eye of the Midnight Sun’s spell! He couldn’t have been the one to cause it!”
“Oh, dear.” Kaiser began to stroke his mustache more frantically. “How could this be?”
Rades took a closer look at the newspaper in order to skim through it and understand what exactly was going on. Once he was done, he just wordlessly gave it to Digit, who placed a hand over his mouth in shock. “So he’s probably just being blamed because he happens to use a devil’s power?” He turned to look at Kaiser, who gave him a solemn nod.
“I wouldn’t put it past Damnatio.” Kaiser shook his head in resignation.
“So he’s accusing him of being a criminal because of nothing else but his abilities,” Rades murmured.
A conspicuous silence fell between him and the other two with him. They both knew that Rades’ life as a magic knight nearly ended several years ago, back when it had barely even begun. If his teammates had never stood up for him, the captain at that time would have succeeded in his endeavor to banish him just because of his magic affinity. Rades never quite forgave that captain or the people who tried to help the captain for what nearly happened to him.
Rades let out a loud sigh before saying, “Oh well. That’s not our problem, I guess.”
Even if Rades could never forgive the people who tried to hurt him, what could he do about it? He was just some commoner lucky enough to make it into the magic knights. He should just be glad he’s made it this far without anything ultimately happening to him. As he finally began to help Digit clean up the area, Rades could only hope for the best when it came to the trial, and was just grateful that it wasn’t him in that situation anymore.
Been having fun doodling, helps me develop them :3
From left to right
Digit and Marzell Aka the guy who almost killed father Orsi while possessed by an elf and my gay fish truly i don’t know how it happened but enjoy :3
Deryn’s voice i’ve only had Macaroni for a day and a half but if anything happens to her i’ll kill everyone in this continent and then myself (Kaiser easteregg >:3) (yes there are giant bees on clovers fauna, maine coon size)
Lil Remy and Mimosa, they beans.
Alary used to help her grandpa with harvesting and mowing, she likes shaping plants into scythes or other familiar tools.
Listen, had Mar meet Lutea during the elf battle, his gay ass would almost get him killed because 1) Shiny and 2) Respectfully admiring the sudden surge of power (one’s gotta respect the power!).
-Rades is really good at math. Sally isn’t as good, though she is definitely skilled herself. Sometimes when Rades is willing to, she has him do the calculations for her experiments.
-Valtos likes to read poetry.
-Rades refused to cry when he got banished, and no tear had fallen out of his eye since then, until one day while in the middle of cleaning the capital, he suddenly cried over absolutely everything, including moments before was banished like when his peers made fun of his grimoire when he got it.
-After Patri’s betrayal, Valtos at first resolved not to let himself get close to anyone again, for his own sake as well as for the people around him’s sake, until slowly, he opened himself up and let himself genuinely become Rades and Sally’s (and later Makusa’s) friend at least.
-Despite Rades and Valtos’ cold exteriors, both them and Sally very quickly warmed up to Makusa when they met him and love spending time with him.
-Sally is a very skilled artist thanks to her anatomy studies. Her drawings can be almost unnervingly realistic, like a photograph.
-Valtos was hopelessly in love with Patri, but knew those feelings could never be returned to him. Even so, he did everything he could that he thought would impress him.
-Digit was one of the few people in the Purple Orcas who was actually nice to Rades, since he felt his own magic affinity could be considered dangerous as well. Unfortunately, Digit failed to stand up for Rades when he got banished, and the guilt from that failure is part of Digit’s motivation to try to be such an upstanding magic knight now.
-Patri saw himself in these three more than any of the other humans, and was both enraged and conflicted by it.
-During the time skip, they all decided to start taking care of themselves better. Valtos has managed to eat more, Sally got herself to brush her hair and improve her hygiene, and Rades has gotten more sleep.
