Suptober22 Day 3 - Digital
Dean was putting the finishing touches on his hamburger patties when he heard the roar of Baby’s engine as she pulled into the driveway.
He had time to place the last patty on the tray, wash his hands, and grab a towel before Cas and Jack were walking in the front door.
They were loaded down with more bags than Dean could count at a glance. They wore new matching scarves and beanies, to go along with their matching grins.
“Did y’all leave anything for everyone else? Or did you buy the place out? Dean asked with a laugh.
Cas rolled his eyes, shaking his head. “We didn’t buy that much stuff.”
Dean pointedly looked at their bags and asked, “Really?”
Cas grinned sheepishly “Alright, we may have gone a little overboard, but it’s not all for us. We did some Christmas shopping, too.”
“Nice! You’ll have to show me what you picked out.” Dean replied.
Jack had listened to their exchange as he stripped out of his winter gear and hung it up in the hall closet. “We can’t show you everything.”
Jack smiled, “Because some of it’s for you.”
“Oh, well that’s alright then. You hungry? Want to help me cut up the fixings for the burgers while your Dad hides the presents?” Dean asked.
Jack rocked back and forth, trying to contain his excitement. “Yes! I’m starving. We didn’t eat lunch so we’d be hungry when we got home. I love burgers. Your burgers especially.”
Dean smiled at the kid, threw his arm around his shoulders and said, “Come on then.”
Dean grinned over his shoulder at Cas. “Meet us in the kitchen when you’re done hiding your booty.” He said, throwing Cas a flirtatious wink.
They’d just about finished cutting up all the veggies they needed for burgers when Cas joined them in the kitchen. He walked up behind Dean, wrapped his arms around his waist, and kissed him on the cheek. “Hello, Dean. How was your day?”
Dean turned his head to steal a kiss before replying, “It was good. Watched some Dr. Sexy, went grocery shopping, and missed you guys. How was the rest of the farmer’s market?”
“It was nice. All of the vendors had their holiday goods out. We bought some decorations for the house and Jack bought gifts for the rest of the family. Now we just have our gifts to buy and we’ll be done.” Cas finished with a smile.
Dean couldn’t help it, he leaned in and stole another, longer kiss.
Dean smiled at Cas, before turning back to Jack, “Great job with the veggies. You want to show me the gifts you got while I cook the burgers and fries?
“Yes!” Jack exclaimed, as he bounded out of the room in search of his bags.
Dean dropped the fries in the oil he’d turned on when they first came into the kitchen and was starting on the patties when Jack returned. Cas was leaning on the counter next to him.
While Dean cooked, Jack showed him all the gifts he’d gotten. He had something for Sam, Eileen, Bobby, Charlie, Jody, Donna, Claire and the rest of the girls, Kevin, Garth and his family, and Mary. Dean smiled at him, “Everything looks great, bud! They’re going to love what you picked out for them!”
Jack smiled, packed everything up, and went to put it all away in his room.
When he came back, Dean was pulling the last batch of fries out of the frier and the patties were ready. “Let’s eat.”
They sat down together at the small kitchen table and tore into their burgers. Jack came by his love of burgers honestly. They were Dean and Cas’ favorite, too.
Dinner was a mostly silent affair, all three of them too busy stuffing their faces to carry on a conversation. When they were done eating, they worked together to clean the kitchen.
Dean asked the room at large, “So, what are we doing next?”
Jack responded quickly, “Movie night?”
“Sounds great, bud. Why don’t you go pick out the first movie. We’ll meet you out there when we’re finished.” Dean said.
Jack bounded out of the kitchen, leaving Dean and Cas smiling after him.
Dean finished washing the last dish and handed it to Cas to dry and put away.
As Cas closed the cabinet he leaned back against the counter top, widened his stance, and opened his arms in invitation. Dean walked right into them, wrapping his arms securely around Cas’ waist.
“I’m glad y’all had a good day, but I’m even more glad that you’re home now.” Dean murmured, his face buried in Cas’ neck.
Cas squeezed Dean tighter, then leaned back a bit so he could see his face. “Me, too. Let’s go watch a couple of movies, get Jack in bed, then we can get on with our plans for the evening.”
Dean looked at him questioningly, “Our plans?”
“I made you a promise, didn’t I? Were my digital depictions unclear?” Smirked Cas.
Dean grinned like the Cheshire Cat, “Oh, you most certainly did. And no, they weren’t unclear. We definitely have plans.”
