Lightning testing
Tried to create lightning strike on Adobe After Effects although its premade lightning available on the program itself.

Testing of fire effect for the candles in my animation.
I used the tutorial on YouTube as help and surprisingly it's pretty simple... well, the tutorial made it easy.
How to make fire in Adobe After Effects. Hey guys!. YouTube video. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DQ3dpFg1eiI
This is my animatic, it might not be so great but I tried.
Also the audio is not perfect as I grabbed some from the net and stuck it in there to know how and when i should put the actual sound effects that I will be doing myself, maybe. Unfortunately some effects could not be heard properly as the uploaded one sounded slightly different from the one before it was uploaded.
Reference:
All audio, sound effects and background music all from on YouTube.
Will update later with links, if needed.
These two videos would be helpful in guiding me through on how to insert or try to make changes in videos that I wish to edit and making it look like a different place but still as realistic as possible. Even though the video is short and fast, it is helpful as he used simple terms on the tutorial.
I would be able to try to make models in Maya and import it into After Effects and change the way the scene looks.

I came across a video teaser of the new Silent Hill game play demo and I thought it would be interesting to do something like this and I decided to use this as an inspiration for my project animation for Digital Image Compositing and do something similar to it. The first part where the player is lying down on the ground in front of the door and the blur effect when the jump scare appears would be good references for my storyboard, and of course the dark atmosphere and the sound effects throughout the demo walk through.
My storyboard for the project will be uploaded shortly by the end of today (hopefully). It would be similar to this without the repetition of the door simulation.

Warning: for the people who can't handle scary shit and don't want to be scared, watch at your own risk, though there's like only one in this video.

Another link to a super useful blog on chromakeying (something I have wanted to learn to do for years!)
It's useful in that it doesn't just suggest programs to work with and the benefits of each, it also breaks down some of the history, the future of chromakeying and how easy it is to do today!
Some tips I have gathered from this link are -
- Green screens are easier to light and require less light to be lit evenly.
- Make sure the background is lit with no hotspots so use of the eyedropper tool in After effects is easier
- Stand the subject as far away from the green screen as possible - this helps to reduce spill from the lights. It also helps to blue the backdrops (this can hide wrinkles if the screen is made from fabric)
- After effects is the better program to use
- Light the 'talent' separate from the screen to avoid having shadow and spillage etc
- The things you need: Digital Video camera, tripod, lights (basic system) and compositing software (I have chosen after effects thanks to this link)
KEEP IN MIND this blog was written 7 years ago so the technology for chromakeying now is even better.

First Attempt at Digital Artwork
Progress shot of my sky so far. This is 2 layers, the first being a colour gradient from blue to white in the background, and the second being some brush techniques.
I kinda just mucked around with this. I've done a lot of artwork with traditional methods, painting, sketching etc. but never digitally with a tablet. The foreground will have some floating islands with elven cities built onto it.
I'll upload another progress shot later!
