Craft in the Age of AI: Essential Thought & Digital Philosophy
Can algorithms truly replace the human touch, or are we entering a new era of creative collaboration? 🧵✨
In an era dominated by artificial intelligence, handmade craftsmanship carries a radical, irreplaceable power. This essay delves into the evolving relationship between traditional art, memory, and machine intelligence—exploring what it truly means to be a maker in a tech-driven world.

1) Knowing Thyself Online
Aristotle once noted that knowing yourself, understanding and being aware of yourself and your limits, is the birthplace of wisdom.
In an age of social media, however, I think knowing yourself is harder now than ever. Despite all the information in the world at our fingertips, we are unable to process or even necessarily recognize our selves under the personae, politics and performances that we engage with all around us. Hank Green recently said in his new Podcast Humans, that he considers himself as being a citizen of the internet which, to me, is nonsense. But this is how the internet feels, it feels like a cyberspace where we can exist, but in reality it is simply a network of computers which our brains misinterpret to be connection. But these connections are virtual, at best, and often simply false.
Influencers are influencers because they influence our thoughts and behaviours in very direct ways, they change who we are. This is normal, good even, helps build cohesive social groups for survival, unless ofcourse that social group is actually killing you for profit. Either through toxic body image promotion, arrogance, political manipulation/indoctrination, or even simply through taking your attention away from yourself and your surroundings all make it harder to see yourself and others clearly. Influencers change you not in ways that make you more safe which is what your mindbody wants, but in ways that make you feel afraid, unsafe, lonely and insecure so that they can use those emotions to manipulate you to voting for a candidate who doesn't serve your interests or buy products you don't need to escape the suffering the products and marketing create.
In addition to social media, the internet provides us with access to many, many different forms of addictive media and distractions that both shape who we are and also prevent us from doing things we'd find more fulfilling but take longer times. Short dopamine hits have shifted our ability to try new things, to ward focusing on our humanity, and toward quick fire reactions that may not represent our true feelings. Our brain cannot really tell what is good or bad, and social media hijacks the circuitry used to tell the difference to misled us. But sustained reflection, thoughtfulness, effort and attention are the things that help us understand ourselves, so without it we can only ever possess superficial understandings. Our brains just can't process that much information.
But I do want to know myself. So I'm going to try to stay off of all other forms of social media and limit myself to just making one post every few days here, reporting on progress.
Maybe I'm wrong, but if I'm right I think AI isn't a problem we're ready for, because social media is a problem we are still grappling with.
The Text-Based Ontologist: A Syllabus for Reality Engineers, Narrative Alchemists, and Semantic Cartographers
This is not a traditional academic programme. It sits somewhere between the philosophy department, occult library, media lab, hacker space, monastery, writer’s workshop, and signal intelligence unit. The central premise: Human beings inhabit realities structured by language. In computational culture, text has become executable. Therefore, whoever understands symbolic systems understands reality…
The Death of the Digital Guru
Why the Loudest Voices Have the Emptiest Pockets
We are living in an era of Simulated Success.
Walk through any digital space today and you’ll find a thousand people willing to tell you how to earn a fortune. But there is a fundamental law of economics they don’t want you to know: Information loses value the more it is shared. If a strategy truly worked, sharing it with 100,000 followers would instantly kill the profit margin. So, what are they actually selling?
• The "Fossil" Strategy: An idea that used to work, but is now dead. They are selling the corpse.
• The Mirror Trick: They aren't showing you a window to a better life; they are charging you a fee to look at your own insecurities.
• The Shovel Logic: They profit from your procrastination. As long as you are "learning" from them, you aren't competing with them.
The 2026 Opportunity:
The real money this year isn't in "content about earning." It’s in Utility.
Solve the trust deficit. Fix the "Last Mile" of logistics. Automate the mental load of the everyday person.
Build something that works while you’re silent. That’s the only way to earn something that lasts.
