Monday evening I spent 2 hours in the Digital Fabrication workstation with tutor Jennifer O Riordan making a large scale version of the Mayfly wing on the laser cutting machine scaled up from my first prototype from last weeks trial.

The result is an interesting effect of burn within the detail of the wings structure by going through the process the piece has a broken , degraded , temporariness to demonstrate fragility and at the same time durability within life , its cyclical nature and restoration.

#repost • @parametric.architecture Bricks play an essential role in the Tribeca historic district of New York City, where @systemarchitects designed The Unhistoric Townhouse, a five-story townhouse with a twisting brick façade for a family of four. The construction, however, is just one room deep, with the most significant area on the side facing the street. The structural masonry facade creates a new urban single-family home by combining digital technology and traditional craftsmanship. Chinese practice X-Living has unveiled its recently completed project named Zhongshuge Bookstore in #Dujiangyan #China / 2020. The seemingly irregular sequence builds the intimacy of the space and becomes a highlight in the front hall. The unique and lively arc shape blazes a new trail and subtly divides the forum area. Walking through under the bookshelf is like walking alongside an outdoor eave, or stepping into a rolling mountain. Stepping into the reading space, one could perceive the scenery images different from traditional bookstores and the profound cultural heritage. The bookshelves extend from the space to the adjacent columns, andingeniously catch the readers' curiosity and guide their route.
