i think one of the reasons i love ezra so much is because he caught me by surprise. during my first watch of rebels, i really liked him! but kanan (and hera) was my immediate first watch fave (shocking i know! coming from me, tumblr user bikananjarrus). so i didn’t quite realize HOW attached i’d gotten to ezra during the course of his journey until i was watching the finale for the first time. And it just HIT me—how much i loved him, how much he’d grown, as a person and as a jedi. and it was just the most beautiful realization.

i truly think ezra has one of the most phenomenal character arcs in all of star wars. he has moments where he falls, where he fails; he has moments of doubt and weakness and fear. but he never lets any of that stop him—he’s been through so much, has had to endure so much hardship, but he persists. he’s so strong and determined, and we actually get to see him become stronger. we get to see the journey, and how all his experiences and trials have built on one another, shaping him into the young man we know at the end of the story who uses everything he knows to save his homeworld and the new family he’s found for himself.

if there is a character that comes closest to embodying HOPE in the way that our beloved original skywalker twins do, it’s ezra bridger.

ezra is funny and eager and bold; he’s kind and compassionate and good; he is made up of all the love given to him by his parents and by his new family, the ghost crew, and that love makes him one of the strongest people in the galaxy. and i truly love him so much 🩵

They took her jacket.

That’s far from the worst of Jyn’s problems at the moment, of course. The concussion she strongly suspects she has is probably farther up that list, you know, objectively, and the dislocated shoulder and whatever the fuck happened in her chest that’s making it hurt so bad to breathe. But somewhere along the line, lying on the dirty durasteel floor of an unfamiliar ship, she decided that those were Future-Jyn problems. It’s not like there’s much to be done now.

But the jacket. Present-Jyn is feeling that one more personally. They took her jacket and it’s fucking freezing and the floor is hard, and it wasn’t even her jacket, it was Cassian’s, and it was so warm and it smelled like him (and the caf he spilled on it last week) and she really, really wants it back. If they had to leave her broken and miserable on the durasteel floor she feels the least her captors could have done is left her the jacket to bury her face in. It would be easier to believe everything was going to work out, at least.

labyrinth - this song is for them like it might be the most them song on midnights, but don't hold me to that because bttws, glitch and the great war do exist. at least midnights proper, not the bonus tracks. i mean this might be the most LITERAL interpretation of a song i can do for them, lol like

lol besides the fact that i used those exact lyrics for this gifset, it's of course so easy to see the literal interpretation there - jyn and cass in the elevator on the way down (racing against the clock to climb UP the tower, krennic was in the elevator going up when he shot cassian); cassian getting them out of jedha and crash-landing on eadu, and both times doing the MOST and disregarding his orders to get her ass out.

but also like they're both so used to losing every connection, every person they love, that of course it makes sense for them to be thinking that their connection isn't going to end well for them. in the novel cassian's constantly giving 'oh no oh no oh no i like her oh no oh no' vibes XD

and then of course 'it only hurts this much right now' and 'breathe in/through/deep/out' is definitely applicable to their last moments on scarif, how peaceful it is for them as they wait to be vaporized lol. like... labyrinth is for them.

gold rush - okay lol its also kind of literal given their ending like yes i also don't like a gold rush when it's a damn nuclear bomb on steroids. but there's so much about it that's giving them - falling feels like flying til the bone crush lmao cassian falling from the tower, AND THE COASTAL TOWN WE WANDERED ROUND HAD NEVER SEEN A LOVE AS PURE AS IT AND THEN IT FADES INTO THE GRAY OF MY DAY OLD TEA CAUSE IT COULD WILL NEVER BE kill me i mean sinking ships on waters so inviting i almost jump in? yeah same me too when i think about rogue one

maroon - i mean maroon doesn't work quite as literally as these two but cassian did choose her, and maybe they didn't dance anywhere but jyn does have a dance-like brutal fighting form so like maybe he'd be starry-eyed enough to think of it like dancing in jedha XD

but the part that gets me is that's a real fucking legacy to leave, because they did that by going to scarif and stealing the plans. and also they left a legacy on ME because i'll never be the same lol

I want you to know that 3 months since I read it, I still think of one line from the beacon chapter 3

“He feels like he’s caught the tail of a comet. His hands burn and burn and his eyes are streaming with the blazing light of it but he can’t help but hang on for dear life.”

This is one of the single most beautiful things I’ve ever read. Thank you for tattooing it on my brain

and i don't need your pressure because ch 4 is fucking flying out of me like i'm exorcising a demon. just because i love you so much, here's a snippet for your pleasure:

She thinks that it doesn’t mean anything as they dry off in the dim, silver glow of the dying lantern. As they help each other dress in a silence that is too comfortable. As Cassian bandages her hands with the care of someone who can’t possibly know her as well as he does. As she paints more bacta onto his shoulder and helps him dress and resettle his arm into the makeshift sling she had made for him because she already cares about what happens to him a little too much. As they work on the comms, on the meteorological console in an efficient quiet. As she watches him prepare their dinner from where she is building a fire for them in the middle of the observation room.

“How far out do you think the comms are?” she asks him, stirring the coals in the little fire plate. She has to ask because she needs to know. Needs to know how much longer she has left with him. She has to ask because she needs a distraction from watching him chop seaweed and stir broth.

Jyn needs to prepare herself for watching him leave her. She has some experience. It shouldn’t be too hard.
