mycroft holmes is crazy. he's the author, he's the queen, he's the government, he's sherlock's secret brother. he's orchestrating a submersible project, he's burying the faults, he's calling it unsportsmanlike, he's crashing it at the bottom of a lake, he's making a flight of the dead, his loose ends are "late - in every sense of the word", he's driving irene adler into sherlock's path, he's saying his secret sister's plane of the dead has to "crash at sea". he's erasing sherlock's memories, he's keeping them locked in a special hell in the middle of the ocean, he's a character in john's stories, he's Mark Gatiss, and he will kill again
