The new movie from writer/director Wes Anderson, The Phoenician Scheme, is a comedic spy caper with one of Anderson's typical high-quality ensemble casts. Benicio Del Toro takes center stage as an arms dealer, joined by the likes of Tom Hanks, Scarlett Johansson, Benedict Cumberbach, Michael Cera, Bryan Cranston, and Hope Davis, among others. Del Toro was Anderson's first choice for the central role; in fact, Del Toro told us that he was brought on board while Anderson had only a fraction of the film's script ready to read.
The Phoenician Scheme opens in theaters on June 6.

Interview of Director Joel Crawford, who had this to say about the movie: “They want this all over the world in every theater,” says Wragg. “Since a lot of this movie was made ‘work from home,’ a lot of the production was done on desktop computers. Once the creative production staff finally got to see it on the big screen, they were blown away — even with shots they’d been working on for a long time themselves.”
That is so sweet. All the animators were able to see it on the big screen and go "Oh my gosh, we made that! That animation looks so cool and we made that!"
