One cool thing about learning while working is that I'm thinking about getting my masters more seriously & I would want to do research on soil composition in different forests and the effects of fire on soil composition if there's any. I would even want to study the soil composition 1, 5, & 10 years post fire, see how the microorganisms change, see how the chemicals change & present themselves because fire = combustion, ya know? And firefighters have chemicals in the water to help put out fires, how will those molecules attach themselves to the existing chemicals in the soil, ya know? Soops interesting to me but I'm just a dirt nerd so 🤷‍♀️

yeah i always thoughgt “Caleb was in wizard KGB school” was pretty explicit from the start, but yeah Arch-mage Caleb is more of a fun fannon thing. true! i haven’t read a ton of “Caleb stays with the Empire” AUs but i think the only one i saw where he was an archmage was actually a happy AU, where there was some time fuckery and the m9 killed Trent and Caleb got to just get good at magic and be an academic and teach at the Soltryce Academy and have a fairly peaceful life :’) and the only bad version of that AU that i read had Caleb and the other two basically being Trent’s personal operatives, he’d send them out on their own or in pairs to do dangerous shit for him on the dl (though they weren’t ghost spies or anything, they were openly a part of the imperial military hierarchy when they weren’t undercover)

idk that it was the prevailing theory, but there was definitely a lot of hot fanart about it? which, idk, i think 'caleb as an archmage' is a pretty natural place to go to after meeting trent

it’s definitely a wonderful hot fanart premise!!! i guess i just didn’t expect people to be surprised by the assassin reveal, it wasn’t my exact guess or anything but it fits what i had in mind pretty well
