@micanificent
how many nonbinary people have come out publicly only to then semi re-closet themselves because people are so incapable of not being extremely exorsexist towards them immediately... ive seen this happen to nonbinary people across agab we cannot catch a damn break
also the way people tend to see misgendering nonbinary as like. "softer" or easier or more understandable than misgendering a binary trans person. like it doesn't even really matter, because it's basically just an aesthetic choice, and not anything to be taken that seriously
#i remember when mr beard came out and immidiately had to go back in the closet#because people were giving him shit for not changing his presentation or pronouns#its really sad
forgot about mr. beard but yeah that made so upset on his behalf!!!!!
and what's annoying is how often binary trans people just don't seem to react? like this is what i mean by people treat misgendering nonbinary people as "softer." a trans man or a trans woman getting harassed back into the closet is a tragedy, a nonbinary person getting harassed back into the closet is just another wednesday for a lot of binary trans people.
#yeah.#and then when we stand up for ourselves we’re ‘difficult’ and no longer ‘one of the fun chill ones’#i can be chill#but im entitled to the same god damn respect and i will insist upon it#get yourselves right i’m fucking tired
no this too. i do feel there's this. expectation. that all nonbinary people will be rather apathetic about their genders, that the "good" nonbinary people (who isn't "crazy" and "dramatic" and "trying so hard to be woke") don't really care about what pronouns or nouns you use, will be binarize themselves in whatever way is easiest for the binary people & system around them, will be largely unobtrusive about their gender unless it can be a funny joke for binary people (even "inclusive" ones).
& then this feeds into what i described above, binary trans people & cis allies treating nonbinary people being misgendered or going back in the closet as less serious and less tragic and less disruptive than binary people. the assumption that nonbinary people somehow have less stake in being trans, that we never physically transition, that we never have dysphoria, etc. instead of being horrified that recloseting or never coming out ever is so common that so many nonbinary people are so used to repressing their own wants and needs preemptively. using pronouns they don't really connect with just to not be seen as "unreasonable" but it doesn't hurt as bad if its not technically misgendering. there's a lot of pain in the nonbinary community that i think we have never been allowed to fully voice.
#exorsexism#i know this is usually about misgendering enbies as their assigned genders#but. i keep distancing myself from transfemininity bc people keep using it as an excuse to misgender me as a Girl#i dont want to be called she or girl or sister but people act like The Default Transfem has to be a girl when talking about her problems#im not a girl or a woman! or a puppy creature robot notperson thing! im not any online transfem stereotype! im an enby person!#and it's honestly really upsetting to be put into another stereotyped gendered box by other trans people#my gender doesnt mean i hate transfem girls or creatures or things! im just not one of them! people online dont get this
this post is ABSOLUTELY including misgendering enbies as the "opposite" gender btw. it is no less fucked up & i'm really sorry you have to deal with
personally i've started thinking maybe we could use a neologism, similar to malgendering for misgendering, to describe the kind of forced detransitioning/conversion therapy that nonbinary/genderqueer people are subjected to, where the goal is not to make them cis but to make them binary and thus palatable to cisness through forced binary transitioning.
also here's a hot take. we talk way less about this ^ kind of misgendering because its something that unites nonbinary people regardless of gender we were raised as. when you just focus on misgendering-as-perceived-sex you group trans men&mascs with nonbinary people raised female and trans women&fems with nonbinary people raised male. but what is described above is exactly what i have heard from nonbinary people who are transmasculinized.
a lot of people don't understand that just because you say you accept nonbinary people doesn't mean you don't subconsciously see our genders as less real! like trans people should not have to be begging OTHER trans people to understand that they aren't the gender they aren't. nonbinary people can feel dysphoria in "both directions" and it really sucks that only one direction seems to matter to many other trans people!!!

if you set off a rube goldberg type death trap to kill someone, if it's a long enough machine, it ceases to become your fault if somebody dies at the end. that's how I've gotten away with it all these years, and why I'm still going to heaven.

i love the phrase "sex pervert" like. as opposed to what? abstinence pervert?
i think they're called catholics
me as a teenager: man it sucks to have no privacy or autonomy but i guess its for a good reason. when i turn 18 i will realise how young i was and understand why they did all that.
me as an adult: teenagers are an oppressed class, their abuse is normalised and systemic and they need to start killing people

“You think every citizen should have access to free and accessible healthcare?”
Wrong!!!
I think that Asylum seekers and Migrant workers and The Undocumented and Everyone Else should get free healthcare too
I love immigration
This one made the fascists and the racists really really mad. I get hate mail daily for this post
Imagine getting mad because someone else’s child’s chemotherapy doesn’t cost them 100,000$ .
Happy 10th birthday to the best tweet of all time.
At the local hamburger shop and they said yelled out “order 167!” And three middle school age kids yelled in perfect unison “ 6 7!” Life is sometimes so beautiful
If you reference 67 you deserve to be executed on the spot tbh
If I was king for a day the first thing I would do would be to sentence you to a life full of love and understanding.
Is anyone else constantly bothered by the fact that all of a child's medical care is required to go through their parents? That they must rely on these people to decide when they do or don't need medical care?
No matter how injured. If a parent doesn't deem it necessary to see a doctor, it doesn't happen. Teachers can suggest a doctor visit, but unless it's a very acute injury (and even then), it's ultimately up to the parents.
You can be 13. Twisted, maybe broken ankle. You teacher lets you sit out in PE. She's concerned, and tells you to rest when you go home, and see a doctor. You get home, ur parents fill a bath and add some Epsom salts, and then laugh at you for using it moms old colorguard stick as a cane. Take some ibuprofen they say. It's just a little sprain, ur a kid.
You go to school the next day, go to ur office assistant time. Office calls ur mom to come get you, because you're clearly in too much pain for school. Your mom laughs when she gets you, says you just were so determined not to miss school. Scolds you for making the office ladies worry.
You never see a doctor for the injury.
Your parents come into the exam room at every visit. This does not stop with age, except for gynecologist. But your parents are on the medical release forms. They fill them out for you, with you. You do not get to take them off.
You never get to tell s doctor about the ankle. Even though it never quote healed right, and it hurts every day.
Then your 18. In college. Still on your parents insurance, and have no car. The on campus clinic only does std testing. You fall down some stairs. Same injury. You call your parents, crying from the pain. You are using a mop as a cane. They console you and say to have a bath, take some meds, and let them know how it feels in a few days. You end up borrowing your roommates rolling chair to get around for the weekend.
By Monday, you can walk again. You walk miles to class every day. You ask to see a doctor, but your parents won't drive the hour to come take you, and you don't have the insurance card. You are still at their mercy for medical care. The ankle tries to heal again. This time worse than before. The tendons click with every step.
Now you're in your twenties. Finally have your own healthcare. You see a doctor. You get to mention the ankle! They say it's been too long to really even know what was damaged. That you have arthritis now. It healed wrong but it can no longer be fixed.
I'm 32 now. My ankle tells me the weather. I wear boots to keep it stable. What could have been a funny story about a fall and a cast has become a lifetime injury. Because children do not have access to medical care without a parents approval.
Hooray! Yay! Dykes!
I'm not seeing any naked adults in that screenshot...
...There's something deeply messed up about how breasts, which are used by our species to feed babies, are considered to be so perverse and obscene that a child should never see them.
There aren't any naked people in the entire video clip. There's some people that you'd probably see less of their skin on a beach, but only because on a beach they'd probably be wearing a bikini top as well as whatever else they have on. And this is New York City, where toplessness is legal regardless of gender or assigned sex.
Toplessness for breasts is legal in most places in the US, unlegislated in almost all that remain, and only illegal in two states: Ohio and Tennessee.
This is because topless equality has been a basic push from feminists for literally decades, until Radfems and NeoCons bonded over wanting a trans genocide less than a decade ago.
It's literally why the "no tits on tumblr" and other lesser SESTA/FOSTA consequences* like it were so jarring. It set back FORTY. YEARS. OF PROGRESS in the rights of people with breasts or perceived as women to wear the same clothes as people without.
Do not let conservatives lie to you about this. The majority of people in the us and the VAST majority of States recognize the right of people to not wear a damn shirt. It isn't obscenity, it isn't even nudity, it's just something pericis men are allowed that everyone else isn't.
Y'know.
Basic sexual discrimination.
*Y'all aren't still on that "it was the Apple app store that caused the tit ban" shit, right? It was the literal US federal government. To be fucking clear.
Man I miss free the nipple. Its getting warmer and we don’t even have free the nipple anymore
feminism has backslid so hard in recent years people don't even know what free the nipple means anymore
i wanted to reblog a version with an explanation but all of them are trans and intersex exclusive. i dont have words rn but im gonna try.
free the nipple points out that people with flat chests who get read as men can be shirtless in public, while people who get read as women and anyone with a chest big enough to be considered "breasts" can't, often this is outlawed. "women's nipples" are considered taboo while "men's nipples" are okay. tumblrs own rules do this too . the wording "female presenting nipple" was originally clowed on because it's ridiculous and stupid. but people forgot. a nipple doesn't "present itself" and its not gendered. some fatty tissue on a person's chest isn't ""presentation"" and it's not gendered or sexed or sexual. it is simply a body. equality means everybody should get to take off their shirts on a hot day. and nobody should be sexually harrassed or incarcerated for it.
i recall the case of a trans woman protesting the state's refusal to change her legal gender to female by exposing her breasts in public. she got arrested anyway because the police and courts don't care what the law actually says. this is about controlling people's bodies and restricting free expression.
Since Canada is currently trying to sell itself as an "ethical alternative" to Iran's oil, I would just like to remind folks / share some quick information:
More than 50% of Indigenous communities in reserve areas in Canada are at high risk of pipeline spills. When there is a spill, reserves are disproportionately impacted.
The National Energy Board and Supreme Court of Canada has a history of declaring the "public interest and economic interests outweigh Indigenous and treaty rights." Basically, Indigenous peoples don't count enough as "public" to matter.
Pipelines are built without proper consent from the Indigenous Nations they choose to occupy. Keep in mind I say choose, because this is the case even when alternative pipeline routes are suggested that could avoid reserve land. This is a direct, constant, and often violent threat to Indigenous sovereignty.
The MMIW crisis is funded by the oil industry through the creation of worker's "man camps" near reserve land. These "man camps" are nothing but pits of sexual violence and human trafficking of Indigenous women and girls. I am not exaggerating; this is well studied and well documented.
