Don’t worry, she’ll put it back... somewhere else.

Every Record I Own - Day 653: Disembowel Echoes of Terror
This is an album highlight of 2020.
Look, y’all... I apologize. At this point I’ll listen to pretty much any metal band that’s swampy, down-tuned, rife with tremolo picking and grunted vocals, and generally just messy and malicious in its approach. Is there anything that makes Disembowel stand out from the other OSDM bands doing the whole sloppy, chunky, and just generally gross approach to the genre? Not really. But I still wound up listening to this album a bunch because it felt like I spent two decades waiting for death metal bands to quit trying to be technical virtuosos and/or Swedish impersonators and to just do dumbed-down punk versions of mid-tempo Morbid Angel songs like “World of Shit” and IT’S FINALLY A THING. I’m sure a lot of folks will chalk this whole scene up to being a fad, but you know what... I DON’T CARE. Because there’s finally a fad that I like and I’m not done basking in it. So there.
