Something I can't get over is how Bean is genuinely in love with Mora
After she meets More, she loses any interest in men. To be honest, I think Mora is all she can think about. In season 4, anytime there is a slight mention of Mora/mermaid, her eyes light up or she gets really defensive. I think it's really cute to have Mora as a love interest for Bean, they're perfect.
Season 4 couldn't have ended in a better way. I really hope we get more seasons and fast.

disenchantment
you literally made me get back into disenchantment s3 its soo good...
I remember you saying a while back that Legend of Korra just reuses the same tropes as ATLA, as in the comic relief guy etc, do you think disenchantment does that to some degree? Like the touchy feely guy reminds me of zoidberg from futurama, and the voice actors always feel familiar. Not that I really mind that, I would just like to hear your opinion
Oooh yeah! This is so timely since I’m in the middle of a Futurama binge. Haven’t watched it since it was on air so it’s cool to make the comparisons.
Honestly, season 1 and 2 of Disenchantment had me like
Season 1 was more interesting I’d say but neither seasons really held my attention for very long. I found myself looking for nuggets of Futurama in Disenchantment, and there were a couple (I think) but it was definitely clear they were establishing a completely different show. I think that Disenfranchisement is more successful than Korra for a few reasons:
-Disenchantment and Futurama are completely different worlds.
So because of this, Disenchantment isn’t beholden to harkening back to what happened before or in between where we left off with Futurama and where we started with Disenfranchisement. They were free to do something completely new, which provided us the opportunity to get to know these characters on their own terms.
-Disenchantment captures the archetypes of certain characters not trying to replicate them exactly.
Luci is Bender Bean’s Dad is arguably the professor Bean’s ex fiance is Zap
But they’re all such distinct characters from each other that the archetype (Bender/Luci as the morally grey/just evil sometimes character than influences the lead to make bad choices, but they’re still best friends) is the only thing that remains, and that’s nice. Bean and Luci’s relationship is completely different from Bender and Fry’s and that’s great. I want to draw parallels, I don’t want you to try to duplicate the magic of Sokka in Bolin’s body. It’s transparent and cheap.
-they use easter eggs, they don’t relying on your love of Futurama to float Disenchantment as a show
I loved season 3 because it was chaotic and fun and there were so many Futurama callbacks and winks, which are wonderful. My memory of the show is fuzzy, but at some point someone says “LET’S GO ALREADY” and I burst out laughing because I remembered:
Some of the voice actors are the same, so you get that nostalgia without the characters being the exact same. When Bean goes to that other world, they pass like Farnsworth Drive or something. That’s fun. Korra relied so heavily on you loving ATLA to get through Korra that it felt like a choppy slog because it didn’t receive the same care that made ATLA worth loving.
okay but are they making disenchanment gay???
