Being Independent Without Force

She cuts her hair watching her ugly dark tendrils fill her bathroom sink. Looking at herself in the mirror she felt a sense of satisfaction-

Felt. 

It wasn’t filling enough for her to shave the remaining locks nearing her scalp 

She didn’t want to fully let go 

The hair may grow anew but the blueprint remains the same monster 

The same dark, thick strands. 

It’s unavoidable. 

Yet, this idea was conjured by a single lens That’s unavoidable Grow out of it It’s unavoidable and ugly, but can be tendered to beauty

Just a thought

I get told a lot that one day I’ll need to grow up. But why? Why should I? I live interdependently, pay my bills, go out to work to earn my own money, so what if I want cereal for dinner? Or drink at 2am watching Disney and singing every line like I’m a damn princess behind the screen. I can live how I want and yeah, sure, one day I might need to make big decisions but until then, behind my door, I’ll be that Disney princess or prince, I’ll be the knight in shining armor or the astronaut that takes naps among the stars or be wrapped up in between my sheets reading page after page of a universe far away from my own. You know why? Because my experiences will be different to yours and you have no right to judge me.
