If you’re curious how my day is going, I’m fielding a complaint from a man who is angry about accident debris that was in the roadway two days ago.

Dude: can I get some wire tomorrow?
Me: sure, what size and how much?
Dude: can someone call me to discuss?
Me: ....absolutely not wtf is wrong with you???
Me: *sends load list for tomorrow*
Person assigning drivers: We could use some more
Me: Sucks to be you, dude. That's all I got.
Shout out to my fellow late shifters! 2200-0600. Holla! I wouldn't know what day it was if not for my phone.
I'm sure the guys are tired of my usual, "Becareful out there," as they leave the office, but I don't think they're ready for, "Please, don't get hurt. You're brothers to me and I'm going to send you into danger at some point today and sit on the edge of my seat and twist my fingers nervously while staring at the radio until you tell me it's all okay." They're full grown officers, but they're still my guys.
